Hello all! Looking for any suggestions or input for packs that ladies have had a good experience with. 

I have really struggled to find a well fitting pack. I’m 5’6”, 125 lbs, with a long torso- 20”.....small waist, wider hips. There is an old thread on here about women’s hip belts that perfectly sums up my experience with packs, so at least I know I’m not alone :/

I’m looking at ULA and Gossamer right now because I can customize pack size and belt. I’m not an ultralighter, but am constantly trying to trim my weight, and really just want something that fits. 

Any input would be much appreciated.

Recommendations for UL Backpack for women

 Hello Exped! Fully loaded w/bearcan, 4 days food & 3L water was max of 33 lbs. This pack carried it perfectly. Muir Ranch to Whitney w/no resupply required ~ 40lbs on day 1 for full load w/water . Again this pack rocked! The suspension system efficiently transfers the load to the waist belt and off my shoulders

 A broken & frayed strap after 3 mos in the woods is not acceptable. 3. (not really a "ding" more of an observation).

Bought this for a Sept '14, +30 day John Muir Trail & Hetch Hetchy hike. I have serious neck issues (severe arthritis, fused & fractured vertebrae) so I looked high and low for a lightweight pack that doesn't skimp on suspension & waist belt. Hello Exped! I’ve come pretty full circle on adequate pack suspension being superior to a low base weight for myself. I’ve tried many of the strategies championed on this sub. My base weight is anywhere between 7 and 15 lbs depending on season and trip. Packs I’ve used: zpacks arc haul, a few palantes, most recently an Atom+ 5OL. Packs I’m familiar with / not interested in: Gossamer gear line, ULA circuit, Granite gear crowns. 

I tend to get severe shoulder pain in traps after more than 3 days frameless. Can go longer with hybrid frame but problem still exists. I find at approx 12 miles into a day is when mild discomfort begins and gets worse from there *even on last day of 5 day food carries when pack weight is low. My average daily mileage is 20-25 miles.

QUESTION: What is the Cadillac / Mac-daddy of load transfer and comfort? 

Currently looking pretty hard at SWD long haul. (Nuclear option being Seek Outside).

Looking for feedback from pack fetishists preferably in 30s or older. Basically others with less than perfect backs who have tried too many packs.

*Please no frameless recommendations (they’re fine for short fair weather trips for me, that’s it)

Fully framed pack suggestions for shoulder pain / fatigue

Minimalist, Light but can carry a heavy load

Title says it all. My wife hurt her back and shoulder and while she loves hiking and the wondrous outdoors, she can't carry much comfortably for the foreseeable future.

I've already got a pretty good UL gear addiction ([https://lighterpack.com/r/7lvrbl](https://lighterpack.com/r/7lvrbl)) but I figured I could take on more weight so she could carry less. 

**So to the question(s)**

* What efficiencies can be gained by packing for 2 instead of 1? Are 2 person sleeping sleep systems better than 2x one person equivalents?
* Are there any light packs out there that would put less stress on the lady's back/shoulder? I'm considering packing all the light &amp; soft stuff separately from the heavy/poky bits (ie on my poor back).
* What's considered the best UL sleeping pad for *comfort*? I'm willing to lie on rocks if it saves oz but comfort wins here.

This seems pretty solid for the UK. You can't get a better inflatable pad for £100, so I wouldnt spend any more money there unless you want to start chopping ccf pads in half. I went for a lanshan 2p tent for £150, and it's less than half the weight of your tent -- takes 600 g off your share of the tent weight, which is more than you get swapping pads or pack. I know you like your 3p tent but wanted to point out that will be the easiest place to cut weight

**Location/temp range/specific trip description:** This gear list is for 3-season hiking in England / Wales (mild, wet climates). Generally, I hike for 2 days, 3 nights.

**Goal Baseweight (BPW):** as low as possible.

**Budget:** Most items already bought, still need pack and sleeping pad. Budget = $200 for pack, $100 for pad.

**Non-negotiable Items:** Sleeping mask, Umbrella (for use at camp to smoke my jazz cabbage under), Sealskinz, My food weight.

**Solo or with another person?:** With my girlfriend.

**Additional Information:** I cannot reliably set up tarp / hammock systems.

Gold stars = items I have not purchased yet, but are the ones I am looking at / interested in.

I am a heavy weightlifter so need a lot of food.

Shakedown Request for England/Wales Hikes

 I like the one-compartment setup better than conventional packs, as it turns out. I'm always losing stuff out of those floppy top pockets by accident, but no more. A small stuff sack stowed inside the top of this pack works much better for me than a top pocket.
