 Stratocaster and Player Series used to be known as as the Standard series and they're manufactured in in Mexico now. 220 or 221 commemorates or marks the 75th anniversary of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. And just to let you know on this particular model, you might be able to see it, but there's a nice little uh imprint on the back of the headstock marking the 75th Anniversary just looks very classy. Looks very, very nice

 I'm not going to actually make any sound samples out of this because there's a lot of videos on Youtube um, where reviewers have actually done that and they've used a lot more intricate software and they've edited it on their laptops or on their smartphones or whatever. I'm just using my smartphone and I haven't got any other form of sound software or mixing and editing software that I can really enhance the tone, so I just want to go over this particular guitar. Then what I'm going to do. The second part of it is things that you may want to look out for when you're buying these Fender Play series you know, good and things that you maybe not so good

 Um, but we don't know. We're still trying to track down their family tree. Okay, so today I'm here to review the Fender Stratocaster Player Series Sss. So before we get started folks, I just want to make a few call outs

 Now these have been out for at least a year now and I haven't been too familiar with them just yet. but this is a very solid guitar and for the price of these are brand new, they're about $6.99 your local guitar sooner or even on Sweetwater. But every now and again there are deals where you can probably get them around 550 525 something like that

[Music] So let's talk about who should buy the Fender Player Series If you are budget conscious but wants lots of good features, What's a really good feeling neck? Want some good updated pickups from some older models? Maybe you like the fact that it has 20 frets and not 21 frets like some other Fender models, then I would say this would be a great guitar for you

 [Music] now. I Love what they did with the finish on this neck, so the fretboard is a little glossy. You can kind of see that there just a little bit of a gloss alright, but the back of the neck is a matte finish which is really nice. This tell me that feels comfortable and you know depending on how high you have your strap, it feels good when you're when you're kind of shooting from the hip right here and you're playing along that's really comfortable and just everything about it

Should You Buy a Fender Player Series Strat???

The guitar sounds fantastic! The only reason I am not giving it Five stars is that the guitar was delivered in need of adjustments as the high b and e strings were buzzing like a sitar. With the money spent on this you would think the guitar would be set up prior to shipping. I had to take guitar into Guitar center to have it adjusted.

Great guitar for price but not set up

 I think they also do one with a humbucker in the neck. You can get ones with Floyd Rose, so you've got a lot of different alternatives with this. Also, maple neck, pal ferro neck. Now, for me, for my money, if we're talking about Mexican made fenders, this is probably the best one I've ever played

 In comparison to their American counterparts, which I would probably say would be the American professionals, these are pretty close to them. Obviously, you don't get some of the bells and whistles you might do with one of the American ones, but if you're on a bit more of a budget and you want something that is high quality, gigable, recording worthy, this for me is definitely worth your money. And now I'm going to get one of my wonderful colleagues to play a little bit on it.

 Also, maple neck, pal ferro neck. Now, for me, for my money, if we're talking about Mexican made fenders, this is probably the best one I've ever played. They've basically just taken what they were doing before and just improved it. Cooler colours, you've got the buttercream here, I think you've got tide pool, sage green, and then obviously you've got your sunburst and your black finishes and everything

 It's also got the modern C neck radius, 9.5 inches. It's just, you know, it's going to be a bit more comfortable in your hand than something with a really chunky neck might be. These are just really, really good guitars, to be honest with you

 So this is just that middle pickup Now that the tone knob will impact that Also, because once again this middle tone knob impacts the neck pickup and the middle pickup And you can feel, see how Bring the tone back up So there we go, let's go ahead and go to position four Let's roll that tone off Roll it off a little bit more Roll it off a little bit more So there you go, that's position four and position five. Let's bring the tone back And we'll roll the tone off just so you can hear that Roll it off a little bit more. This is all the way off Alright, let's bring it back, bring back the tone So that's all five positions for you. So my final thought on the Player Stratocaster is, it's an amazing guitar for $699

 There's three Player Series pickups, so they are designed with a little bit of an edge and I do think you can hear that through them There's a two-point trim bridge on it. You have a 22 fret neck also on the Volume tone tone controls the there's a bridge pickup tone control Which is not standard for Fender, but they added a dedicated tone control to the bridge pickup So there's a little bit more control over the bridge pickup tone. So that's pretty cool and going back to the neck It's a modern c-shaped neck nine and a half inch fretboard radius So that's kind of what you're going to expect from Stratocasters, right and it's a twenty five and a half inch scale length Which is kind of the standard Fender scale length The frets are medium jumbo and there's a synthetic bone nut. The nut width is one point six five zero And there are black dot inlays in the neck

 I mean the way this neck feels. I mean this neck feels better than my American Strat don't tell my wife that she bought me that I'm in my American Strat for my birthday this year, but this this neck is Phenomenal it really is phenomenal So let's go through some of the specs of this guitar and then we will dive into some tones So just like a Fender American Stratocaster, this is made with an alder body. There's three Player Series pickups, so they are designed with a little bit of an edge and I do think you can hear that through them There's a two-point trim bridge on it. You have a 22 fret neck also on the Volume tone tone controls the there's a bridge pickup tone control Which is not standard for Fender, but they added a dedicated tone control to the bridge pickup So there's a little bit more control over the bridge pickup tone

 A Fender American Professional strat (the one that's made in the USA) has rolled edges and is a bit more comfortable to play but I've heard that this model is a bit better value at less than half the price. The strings stretched a bit the first fifteen minutes I played but now they hold their tune quite well. I hope the pickups and internal connections are good. Once I have the opportunity to play my guitar on the amp a bit I will update my review

 Bend the metal so it fits as shown. Super easy fix all you need is a screwdriver. I deducted one star for this quality control but I've heard this guitar is a really good deal on components and playability when tuned up properly. The fretboard is flat and the frets are a bit sharp but i'm getting used to that

 I hope the pickups and internal connections are good. Once I have the opportunity to play my guitar on the amp a bit I will update my review. I don't mind having to do this minor modification because now I have the right fit with the instrument but I'm certainly now a bit more skeptical of this product and on the eye out for further issues.

 I deducted one star for this quality control but I've heard this guitar is a really good deal on components and playability when tuned up properly. The fretboard is flat and the frets are a bit sharp but i'm getting used to that. Had to open the guitar up with a screwdriver and bend the internal metal jack

 One annoying thing that I've noticed is that the trim bar hits the tone pot, but you could easily fix that by bending the bar a bit. Uh, so that's no biggie. Other than that, I've tried uh, budget Strats and this isn't a budget Strat. This is a kind of medium priced thing, but you instantly notice it

Fender Player Series Stratocaster (Is A Strat Made in Mexico Good Value For Money?)

 But a strat was all that showed up through the US postal service in good condition. The instrument is well made but as stated by one the frets are a bit sharp so will need to polish the edges. The thin manual that came had an English warranty but the description of the controls, adjustments, etc. In Spanish

 Fender does not have a manual specifically for the player but several that get close and documentation on setting it up properly, if you know what version of tuning knobs, truss rod, tremolo you have. And no way to know unless you know. So it plays well but needs some adjustments that I guess I will have to dig deeper to work through. The point being
