 All I can say is if you're after a robust, light, slim, rechargeable headlamp which does the job, it's ultra bright, it lasts as long as you want, this is definitely one to go for. It's also got the tilting action on it as well, superb. So I'm going to show you a bit of footage now in the dark and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching

 You can buy as extra, which is what I've got here, this is a completely different one, this is a 3500 battery which will actually last a lot longer. So we'll open this up and the best thing about this battery is, look at that, you can charge it separately, it's got it's own little USB port and it lights up blue and red, red when it's empty and blue when it's full and it's incredible. After going through a half dozen cheap Amazon headlamps, I'm looking to spend a bit of money on a good-quality headlamp for camping and general-purpose use. 

My criteria:

* Long battery life 
* Rechargeable via USB (prefer 18650 batteries as I already have a bunch from other equipment)
* Multiple modes (flood, red light) 
* Comfy, not too bulky
* Reliable, easy to use

I've looked at Zebralight, Fenix, Nitecore, and I'm leaning towards the Nitecore HC65. I would have already bought a Fenix HM65R-T if it had a red light. I know it goes down to 5 LM flood, but I feel like even that is too bright and would bother other people at camp/attract bugs. 

Anyone here have a favorite headlamp with a similar use case?

Headlamp Recommendations?

I don't use this product all that often but it tends to get used for a minute or two every few days. I do not leave the product on very long and yet battery life drains in no time at all where the higher power lighting is available. I have a second one that I use at work and it's much the same. I may not use it for weeks at a time but it rapidly loses capacity to stay brightly lit

Poor battery life

 It uses a Cree XM-L2T6 neutral white LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. So it has five brightness levels with the 950 lumens maximum and a red reading light. So let's go through those right now. It's also digitally regulated to maintain constant brightness

 Now when the headlamp is charging, the two red LEDs will flash simultaneously and a USB cable is included. Charging time is approximately four hours, although I don't usually allow my battery to go that low, so it usually takes a fraction of that time. When charging is completely done, the two red LEDs will be constant on. Now before I do the headlamp testing, I just want to mention that the headlamp comes with a limited lifetime guarantee from Phoenix Lighting US

 With the lamp turned on, the two red LEDs will flash when the battery capacity is less than 20%. So important thing to note is that the micro USB port is waterproof even without the cover on. So this is just an anti-dust cover, but you'll want to remember to plug it back in anyway. Or you can buy a separate battery charger and charge your batteries that way

The Best Rechargeable Headlamp I’ve Ever Used – Fenix HL60R Review

I’ve got plenty of lights, but I really only use 2-3 for work.

I’m a road construction inspector, and plenty of out work is done at night. I hate working nights, but at least I get to actually use my lights. 

Lately, I’ve been using my Acebeam E70 in 5000k and Sofirn SC31 Pro. 

The Acebeam is incredibly bright, and will light up anything we’re trying to look at. I’m currently on a concrete roadway patching job, so all that light definitely helps finding hairline cracks in the road while we’re laying out areas to remove. Since I started using it, I’ve had 3 different people ask me about the light and look it up to buy one. Haha. 

My other light is a Sofirn SC31 Pro. I use it with a diffuser and 18350 tube. It stays clipped on the outside of my pocket, and I use the strobe mode while walking in the lane closure. Especially in darker areas where there aren’t any streetlights. It’s nice to be able to adjust the strobe frequency too. I was using a Fenix PD22 before, and the strobe can be kind of obnoxious at times. I set a slower strobe and it still makes me plenty visible. I’m also wearing plenty of reflective clothing. This light is also used to put light on closeup pictures I take to document stuff.

 Instead of just tapping it lightly on the side switch here, we're actually going to hold it down for a second. The first mode that we have is the red mode. This is actually just one lumen output. You can run your HL6DR on the red mode for up to 100 hours, so you can run this all day long

 It's operated by one single switch over here on the right side of the light. If you hit this just briefly, you're going to see that it's flashing, so flashing red and white at the same time is an indicator that you have in between 30% and 70% battery available in the 18650 battery that it's using. Again, you can use an 18650 battery, one, or you can use two CR123s. If you hit this and it's flashing only white, you have above 70% battery life

 If you hit the side switch and it's flashing only red, it means you have below 30% battery life. So just something to be aware of as you take this out and start to use it. Let's take a look at some of the lumen output. Again, this has 5 modes of operation

 Again, you can use an 18650 battery, one, or you can use two CR123s. If you hit this and it's flashing only white, you have above 70% battery life. If you hit the side switch and it's flashing only red, it means you have below 30% battery life. So just something to be aware of as you take this out and start to use it
