(Left to right starting from the top) Meze 99 neo, Grado Wireless V2, Bose Tempo Sunglasses, Bose 700, with fiio q3 inside, Grado SR 80X, KZ ZSN Pro with KZ AZ09, finally my Akg K240 (with a shorter cable thank god). 

To talk about all these I'll start with most expensive and work my way down, as that's what help me get into this hobby. 
Bose 700- great sound, excellent noise canceling, and by far the best to me for asmr, general listening, and lofi. 
Bose Sunglasses- great for driving, being able to listen to a audio book or some light tunes while driving or riding a bike is amazing, great mids and high end, super lacking bass, but they don't go over your ears so I can't fault them for that. 
Grado Wireless- they are grados that are Wireless. They're not good for doing stuff outside the house because they're open back. But if your feeling lazy and don't want to find a dongle or amp they are good, if you already like grados. 
Meze 99 Neo- these sing to me with the fiio q3. I have never heard my music sound that good. The only downside being they are not Wireless. But I got other stuff for that. So it's not that big of a deal.
Fiio Q3- get it. I promise you it's worth the money. They will make your ears sing. The second amp I've ever owned and I'd say it's a great starting point for newbies like me.
Grado SR 80 X- classical music is amazing out of these, if you can find a quite place to listen to them. Not a lot of bass, open back so everything gets in, and everything goes out. Also not the most well made. But I like them. 
AKG K240- I don't really like these. I don't have much else to say, they sound good. But don't do anything well. Which is what studio headphones do I'm told. 
KZ ZSN Pro with KZ Bluetooth adapter- these are the best in ear monitors I've ever owned. They sound clean and crisp. For only 50 bones they are definitely worth it.

And my favorite is, the mezes. Told you, you'd never guess. (This is sarcasm)

I would recommend you to get a chance to the Oppo PM-2, if you find them second hand somewhere (Oppo closed it's hifi division.. and it's really a pity).

Before them, Beyerdynamic Dt880 pro, great value for money on the secon hand market.

Recently, I switched from wires to wireless, starting with Bose QC35 ("wow" effect at listening test before buying).
After it I going to B&W PX (pretty good, but uncomfortable) to the Sennheiser Momentum 3.0 (peace of mind, for sound quality and comfort).

Of course, there are also plentu wired/wireless in ear earphones, but maybe it's off topic.

It's great to find people with the same passion.

Well I'm finally confident enough to show off my hoard. You'll be shocked at my favorite.

 The bass is deep and clear - and does not muddy the mids. Treble is not fatiguing. Pairing something this inexpensive with my higher end gear is something I would only do with FiiO, and perhaps Topping. I think the Q3 competes well with the desktop FiiO K5 Pro (which can support 32/768 and native DSD512) and the DAP FiiO M11 Plus LTD (which in USB DAC mode can support 32/384 and native 256) in terms of cost/value

5mm Project 8 Plato x Socrates cable by Eletech) and over-heads that cost $4500 each (Audeze LCD-5's and Focal Utopias using a 4-pin XLR balanced with cable with 4.4mm adapter by Cardas), the soundstage is wide enough and the 3D imaging is satisfactory considering this tiny portable only cost $150. It's sound quality is fantastic. Paired with FiiO FDX's, FH9's, and FA9's all were pleasant considering the difference in tier compared to the previously mentioned IEMs

I am currently considering to buy my first amp &amp; dac (either separately or in a 2 in 1), I bought my very first pair of audiophile headphones last Christmas (HD6XXs) and I want to finally start enjoying them to their full potential. I am currently really undecided as whether to go for a portable AMP&amp;DAC such as the FiiO Q3 (I do listen on the go pretty often) or to take something like the Shiit stack because I really don't know how much the performances vary going from Desktop to portable. So the question is:

How much worse is a portable AMP &amp; DAC than a Desktop one in the same price range?

Are portable AMP DACS really THAT much worse than desktop ones?

I really wanted to like the Q3 and I did at first. This was my first purchase of a headphone amp to go with my Fiio M6. After browsing several reviews online, I thought to give it a shot. It really is a gorgeous and nice sounding portable headphone amp

 I do like how the Q3 pairs with the Fiio M6. It sounds fantastic with IEMs. I do not have another Fiio DAP to compare this with. However I look forward to the M11 Plus soon

However, as one of the reviewers I listened to said, the USB C port seemed to have issues when plugged in as a slight bump to the cable would reset the device and then the M6 would detect it again. This was happening during song play

 For the IEMs, I am using Fiio FD1s, ZST, ZSTx with it. I am favorable to the ZSTx for their frequency response and reproduction. Music sounds amazing! Using Poweramp app or Neutron app some EQ and effects settings are adjustable and can improve what you hear. But it is important to pair a good set of ear/headphones with it to get the most from listening

I wanted to like the Q3. I really did… I did like it.

 A lot of them call out how the bass boost rolls off too far into the mids and how when you activate the bass boost it turns the whole sound into mud. There is truth to that. The other thing they call out is the relative value compared to what else is out there.  I have 40 year old hearing and I can't pick out specific frequencies or tones so well but my hearing is good enough to recognize the sound of mud

based on a true story

After Apple released Hi Resolution Lossless music I bought this and some Sony WH1000 XM4 headphones. I use them wired with this DAC and the highest Apple Music sampling rates of 192 kHZ is supported. The music sounds fantastic and it was worth every penny on the headphones and the DAC.  I was a bit disappointed however with the vendor support as I received a bad USB C to USB C cable

After a lot of back and forth and ultimately receiving the wrong cable replacement the seller stopped communicating. It cost me $20 to buy a quality USB C to USB C cable which I shouldn’t have to spend on being that the enclosed one was defective

The core product is fantastic but quality of accessories and seller support is questionable
