Flashy basic attacks charge up things called ATB bars, which then let you use your team's unique weapon, abilities, equippable, spells and items from the comfort of a slow-motion menu

 The girl at that fateful Japan Club meeting had clobbered the nail on the head. The fatness of the line between cutscene and gameplay was far too great, even in a demo.  The original managed to pull this off with toaster handed Lego dolls. The remake holds harder thanks to formal advancements such as bigger graphics and voice, acting even on the molecular level. The makers of the Final Fantasy 7 remake have tenderly placed story first, for example early in the game at the end of one routine battle or another cloud. Might reject Barrett's thinly veiled fishing for a compliment; musta missed it

 Today's modern RPG masterpieces are a different breed, but when it comes to storyline and enjoyment the dated classic FF7 still remains at the top of my list.  With the prequalifiers out of the way:  The story is really padded out - in script, in the time it takes to complete missions, and in side-quests. This seems mostly because the world had to be rebuilt in 3D and they needed to justify all that work. It's not an open-world however, you're limited to specific areas and those areas have various uninspired side-quests

 The real-time combat doesn't really give you enough time to manage your characters and choose actions. The 'classic' mode is more like a turn-based system (but not). But it's also set to easy difficulty, so it requires very little beyond button mashing for most encounters.  Not being able to use summons when you want to is annoying

 (which should give you an idea of how much extra story padding there is in this game compared to the original)  I'm a big fan of the original. I continue to think it was one of the best RPGs I've played.  We'Re able to hear the characters talking now we're able to see the characters interacting we can go to their home as we can see where they lived. The world is a lot more fleshed out. It'S really something, and so all of those characters that you knew you get to learn a lot more about, and that's really fascinating for all the people who played Final Fantasy 7. Now that we've never experienced and that really lives up to expectations, now they're doing a lot of different things here with the story, there's some different levels will call it without spoiling it

 It is turn-based option. I played the whole game on classic and I really really enjoyed it quite a lot. It'S fast its kinetic, but at any single point I could stop the game and pick what I want to do and near the end of the game. I'M switching between all of my different characters, all the time so fast and healing one character, then switching over to another and that's the great thing I really enjoy the classic combat

 For me are a 9 out of 10. Next up is story. We follow avalanche the evil terrorist organization, no they're, the good guys they're, trying to take down Shinra the evil corporation that is mining the planet using mokou reactors to take the lifeblood of the planets, so avalanche is trying to take them down and cloud an ex-soldier part Of Shinra joins up with them to go on to this endeavor to take down Shinra. So it's following the original game pretty well, but it's adding a lot to the original game in that it's fleshing out the characters and fleshing out the world

The Good The Bad and The Robbery

 Instead of calling him by his, i guess slave name. The main cast of remake is outstanding and really captures the spirit of the original. All of the character interactions are so perfect and these conversations just write themselves. Their relationships with each other grow more and more over the course of the game

 For example, the coachmen who took tifa to don corneo is now part of a chocobo ups company in walmart, led by sam elliott. Chocobo sam is just one of many fresh faces in the remake. There'S also rose, who is a member of soldier that pops up in chapter four and he's [ __ ] nuts he's a thrill seeker who seems to get off on pushing himself to the absolute limit and i'm not convinced he isn't low-key gay for cloud. The engine roars with excitement it hungers to be set free

 He will stab you in the [ __ ] face with all that said, i think remix combat system is excellent. It'S got the speed and the flashiness that square likes, but it still manages to be strategic and satisfying. It needs a couple of minor tweaks here and there with the camera and the animation locks, but otherwise it's easy to fall in love with this. Keep it up

 These portions of the game are not very good. It actually plays very similar to the viking mini games in the original, and it's just as janky. I would be fine with that, but there's actually two boss battles that take place on the motorcycle and that's when it's bad you're, mostly restricted to just melee combat you get slowed down constantly and your only range attack charge is slow and can easily be interrupted or Just miss regular enemies are fine because they don't need you to do much other than whack them with your sword. But these motorcycle sections were not properly designed for actual battle and it seems that the developers knew that because they allow you to skip these fights when replaying

Final Fantasy VII Remake - Review | One Year Later

 Sony has been shifting to a more "active" style system since FFXII. This was far better than FFXV, but not really for me. It was a bit clunky, having to actively switch back and forth between chars and constantly having to figure out what was going on, especially when fighting multiple enemies.  *Original Review*  5 years in development, 2 years on pre-order for 1/6 a game for $60? Wish i had known to check the fine print before i purchased
