Fiskars X7

Hi everybody! I'm Mike This is budget guns I get reviews and today we're going to take a look at the Fiskars x7 14 inch hatchet.

So overall, really nice little Fiskars X7 hatchet here.

Fiskars x7. Have probably lost 1 cm length of raw edge through sheer abuse, have had that thing for 5 years and it just refuses to even look like it. I sharpen it and freshen it up once or twice a year, and it's stupid lightweight.

The hatchet will hold the wood upright and all your fingers and toes are in no danger. Once you get used to this, you can break down a week's worth of kindling, safely, in about 10 minutes, and it will be exactly the size you want. Don't use a metal tool in place of the wood mallet, you'll mushroom your axe head and/or wreck the eye holding the head in place. I've been batoning my little Fiskars X7 hatchet through oak for 10 years with no damage using a 4lb oak mallet I made.

I just took my new Fiskars X7 (14”) out camping for the first time a couple weeks ago. It is great for processing quarter and half pieces (bought at the campground) to kindling and tinder. I didn’t try it for anything bigger but it would probably split a whole piece easily. It swings nicely and splits great.

As others have mentioned, the Fiskars X7 is a great choice. It splits wood like a champ.
