By shit quality I mean: if your $1000+ headphone (hell, $50+) headphone can break with normal, intended use, rendering it useless without incurring huge fees to have it repaired, it is shit. I own a Focal Clear and Hifiman Edition X V2.

The most detailed 360 soundstage you'll hear, especially with EQ

For me, the Sundara, Focal Clear and HD 660S were the only one that sounded fine in a short demo. The others gave me a bad first impression.

 I haven't heard them, although I understand they have a different signature. I've also heard opinions of the MGs being "90%" as good as the Utopias. Either way, given they are around three times the price, I can't imagine it would be worth the extra cost unless you really have cash to burn. Overall, while expensive, I'm so glad I got these - they've transformed my headphone-listening experience and for me proven themselves to be worth every penny

  I sometimes use the MGs with my Audiolab MDAC+ / Graham Slee Solo ULDE combination, and sometimes with my Chord Mojo 2 / Poly combination as a Roon endpoint. Both are equally sublime. The MGs have this uncanny ability to make even substandard recordings enjoyable to listen to. And it does this by delivering instruments and vocals with a vividness, clarity, power and naturalness that nothing else I have comes close to

 Moreover, this ability in no way detracts from their performance when fed high-quality recordings, which come through with all the aforementioned qualities merely ratcheted up a notch or three.  The soundstage is absolutely fantastic, with instruments and vocals rendered with such 3D precision and detail that I can effortlessly pick out the subtlest of sounds and place them on the landscape. Bass is deep and tight, vocals have a timbre and naturalness I have not experienced before, and treble is sweet. Despite the tons of detail, there is no ounce of harshness or fatigue

New Headphones Day - Hifiman Arya

 Lucky that I get to experience music so deeply. I wish everyone could have these to enjoy music with.  I don't know how much higher this audiophile journey goes. Is an Abyss AB-1266 that much higher of a jump than these?  Only one way to find out

It can be hard to judge how something will sound just from reading impressions online - especially with all of the vague and confusing terms floating around. I've read every review and watched every video related to these headphones prior to buying them (how can you not for this price) - and none of them prepared me for what I've just experienced.  In short: These are incredible, miraculously detailed in every aspect of the sound, and most of all - these sound HUGE! The presence of the sound hitting your ears, it's almost overwhelming at times. NOBODY talks about what bass monsters these are! I didn't even know headphones could capture the presence of a home theater, ESPECIALLY in an open back

 At "slightly above average volume levels" with any bass-heavy track, I would instantly get the dreaded clipping that apparently plagues these otherwise phenomenal headphones. I listen to rock, much of it acoustic singer-songwriter material - no hip hop. But a heavy slap on a bass guitar or a stand-up, or Keith Moon wailing on double bass sent these headphones crackling every time. Again - only moderate volume - frankly not even loud enough to reach that point of "feeling" the music

 Such a shame.  Ultimately I ended up with the Sennheiser HD 800S, a mindblowing feat of German engineering. I recommend the Sennheisers without any hesitation or drawbacks aside from the slightly higher price over these Focals. Evertything the Clear MGs did well, the Sennheisers do better, at any volume level, which makes them a better piece of equipment and a better value in the end

 These reminded me of the HD 820 except with way less soundstage and less natural midrange. Focal's drivers on their high-end headphones ( Stellia and Utopia ) sound very unnatural to me.

Got my Clear's and LCD-3's (as well as a whole lot else...) from these guys! Nice impressions. When I had gotten my LCD-3's, I had originally gone in to buy LCD-2's and the 3's were just on an entirely different level.

This confirms what I've always thought about the LCD-3. I've never gotten to listen to it, but I always feel like people don't use it or consider it, simply because it's not popular. Due to that, I feel like people perceive it as a bad headphone, when many people, such as yourself, have clearly stated otherwise.

Got to listen to a ton of headphones today (LCD-4, Focal Utopia not pictured )

 The mids and trebles, as noted in other reviews, really are something else. Definitely a worthy purchase at this price point, but again, a waste of money without a DAC/amp to drive them.

 As with the Elegia's, yes they have low enough impedance to be driven straight from a cell phone or laptop, but UNLESS you have an external DAC/headphone amp to drive these, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. Quite why you'd drop 4-figures on a high end set of audiophile cans and then plug them straight into a laptop or phone thinking you'll get great results is beyond me anyway. The DACs in phones and laptop are cheap and crappy and that's what they make these headphones if that's all you have to drive them. A headphone amp though (Chord's excellent MOJO for example) really takes these up thru the gears and boy are they incredible! They look amazing, but the design is actually acoustically functional, not just aethetically pleasing

 They are even more comfortable than the Elegia's which I didn't think possible and the sound stage (as expected with open back) is impressive. Much clearer, with tight, clear, punchy bass.
