Thanks for the new hobby during quarantine!

  Sadly it doesn't have a built in hardware limiter as far as I can tell, which I've heard from a few sources is superior to a software limiter (I'm not sure why it doesn't work nearly as well). That would have definitely been a nice feature but I get the impression those are only found in more expensive equipment, something to consider.  This unit doesn't provide quite as much gain as I would personally like. It would be nice if there was quite a bit of extra headroom to keep the gain low and in turn the background noise low

I am personally a newbie to audio interfaces and this is my first venture into this type of product. I feel like I've got a relatively good ear for music and discerning different audio equipment. To me the background noise when it is set to a high gain is pretty impressively low. Now I really haven't owned a variety of audio interfaces or have major experience with recording equipment so take that with a grain of salt

  This unit doesn't provide quite as much gain as I would personally like. It would be nice if there was quite a bit of extra headroom to keep the gain low and in turn the background noise low. I'm running an SM58, I don't have a huge amount of experience with other mics so I don't know if that is a particularly gain hungry mic, I didn't think so but maybe ill get a better idea later. Possibly more gain is something I would get with more expensive gear, I should really research that more in the future

Solid as rock audio quality, not as much gain as I would like

The Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface is a great mixer for anyone looking into getting into high quality audio production or creation! As someone who has been using the Shure MV7 for quite sometime around 6-9 months with zero background in audio production and finer audio equipment I had been using the USB option for the device which while solid didn't demonstrate the quality of the MV7 in terms of audio production. For example I've used my microphone mostly to voice chat in games and create videos for school and hobbies while the mic was always solid once I got a true mixer with its hard to say I'll ever go back to using a simple usb cord as when I was testing it out my friends and myself were stunned by the dramatic increase in quality and when editing I noticed how well it captured my own voice as well. Overall I would recommend the Scarlett Solo for anyone whos getting into audio production or those with more expertise in the field as its simple to use as it requires only a USB-C cord to unleash its full potential!

 Like the sounds just starts breaking down. I made a diy monitor speaker from car audio equipment (because real monitor speakers are overpriced), piped the instrument input from this (I'm using it for guitar) into my daw, and piped the output directly back into the focusrite from the daw, and into the homemade monitor speaker using the line outputs, and it sounds fine that way.  I really do think it's an issue with either windows or my pc though. I get some clipping in audio when playing music lately

Hello r/headphones, I'm new here and this is my humble setup :)

Basically every home recording studio has a little red box on the top of the desk, usually tucked away behind the monitor or midi keyboard. This is that tiny red box.  Audio quality is superb. Controls are simple and deliver all of the visual cues needed to get your input volume in the right place

My only gripe is that this interface is solely powered by your computer's USB ports. This means I need to turn on my computer anytime I want to pass audio through it, even if I want to just run my guitar straight out to my powered studio monitors
