 We'll see how it does it. Half an inch, one inch and 1.5 inches deep. So to start out, I contacted the company and I asked them, is there anything new or different or special about your sensors that makes them different from other company's sensors? Or are they basically the same sensors? There's just more of them

 Studs typically are two by fours or two by sixes, and generally, as we discussed in the previous video, they are often spaced at 16 inches apart in your wall. This is why tape measures have 16 inch measurements marked on them in red. Basically, if you know your studs or space 16 inches apart and you can find one, typically you can find the rest in the wall. There will be variants

5 inches deep. So to start out, I contacted the company and I asked them, is there anything new or different or special about your sensors that makes them different from other company's sensors? Or are they basically the same sensors? There's just more of them. Franklin Sensor's response did not include an answer to that, so I don't know. What I can say is that my experience with the stud finder is generally positive

 I think I'm starting to bother the sensor. So the question is, can I add a third layer of drywall and will this still work? You probably wouldn't find three layers of drywall in your home, but I did want to know if the sensor could work through it. They do say that it can work up to 1.6 inches deep and this is only 1

Lacks depth of scan

Bought this after reading all the fantastic reviews, but found that my experience was much different than most. I've used many stud finders in the past and knew that a solid, reliable, precise stud finder would be a great addition to my tools, but unfortunately, that's not what I found in this Franklin Sensors Stud finder and I had to return it, as I have a few so-so stud finders in my toolbox already.  I found that the depth and precision claims were wholly inaccurate. It would not see through 1/2"-3/4" wainscoting effectively and was mediocre on drywall, only finding studs that you should know already are present (door and window trimmers/ king studs)

My intial stud-finder may have been defective - 2nd time around - much better!

Worth the money

 This tool has never been exposed to any kind of solvent or caustic chemical and I always remove the batteries after each use. Unless Franklin has now changed the grip material on its new models, expect to get a couple years usage before the problem surfaces. I’m not writing this review as a means to vent, I’m writing to be a good member of the Amazon community.  UPDATE: I called Franklin Sensors to let them know that there’s an issue with decaying grips
