I need help with picking a controller

I don't really like to recommend FrSky radios since they're sort of a scumbag company, but the Taranis Q X7 is a fantastic budget radio that can be retrofitted with hall effect gimbals and crossfire/expresslrs modules.

It's not a great savings, better quads can be had for much less, and the Taranis QX7 that comes with these, though a perfectly adequate hobby grade transmitter, is the access version which has its own intricacies. I immediately swapped to Crossfire too, so it meant added costs on top of this package. I love my Taranis but probably would've gotten a Tango 2 if I knew then what I know now, although I do love my giant module bay. I understand as a new pilot wanting to avoid the scary, hacker parts of this hobby and wasting money.

I never got my DIY multicopter to fly... so then I decided to get a ready-to-fly EMAX Hawk 5 drone with the Taranis Q X7 and Aomway Commander goggles. Okay, I FINALLY got the EMAX Hawk 5 flying and I could not fly it for more than a minute per flight and crashed badly into the ground a few times. I got the VelociDrone FPV Racing Simulator and practiced, but still the HAWK 5 was just too fast out of the box and I had to slow down the motor RPM drastically.

It now just has a quickly pulsating blue LED. I purchased a DSD Tech USB to TTL Serial adapter with FTDI FT232RL to try and fix it but so far no luck. I've decided, therefore, it might be time to change the flight controller. I need a new receiver anyway, as I'm upgrading to a Taranis QX7 controller, so now seems like a good time to do it.

After some more looking, I read several opinions that said a [FrSky Taranis Access is a decent transmitter to start with. From what I saw on the Tinyhawk website, this is listed regarding the FrSky stuff/transmitter above. *\*\* Be advised that this model is NOT compatible with the latest 2019+ FrSky ACCESS protocol transmitters without the use of FrSky's external XJT module for ACCESS transmitters for D8 mode capability.*. I just want to confirm with people more knowledgeable than myself, do they mean this part here;.
