 So I walked into the classroom and kind of plugged in and fired it up, not really expecting much, and I was absolutely floored. Incredible punch and headroom and clarity and just the sound that was coming out of this little combo was just screaming. I'm not going to get too into the tech aspect of it, but suffice it to say that it's got the MB head, which it's built in obviously as a combo amp, but same power amp section as the MB500, 500 watts of power, and the NEO-212 cabinet. GK fans are going to find lots of familiar stuff in terms of the EQ

Not sure how much they are over your way but the GK MB212 is a 500w light weight combo. One thing to be careful about when buying a combo is the actual power rating you're getting out of the box. Most require you to add another cab to get the full power.

Hey guys, I've been saving up some money for a while and now have about £500 max to spend on a good bass amp that will be able to keep its own whilst playing live with my band. The two guitarists use Boss katana 100s and my drummer is loud but not stupidly so. He knows how to fit into the mix well.

The music we play is more indie, psychedelic, shoegazy. I've been thinking about either saving up a bit more for fender rumble 500 or looking for a  TC Electronic BG250 115 or 250. Though I'm really open for suggestions.

Best bass amp for playing live shows in pubs, clubs and small venues?(context included)

My band is going to start playing some small to medium gigs this summer and I currently have a rumble 100 which is barely cutting it at rehearsals.  I’ve been thinking about going to the rumble 500 combo but I’ve heard that it’s a bit underpowered and I would like the ability to add on more speakers if need be.  I’m torn between the GK MB212-II or getting a Hartke LH500 and trying to find a cab that would fit in my car.  Also curious about the Hartke LX5500 compared to the LH500

Looking for a gigging amp

I use a GK MB212. I like it because it’s like 41 lbs and packs 500 watts, good enough for most smaller shows and light enough it can literally be lifted with one finger.

I’m looking into getting a new amp myself, but I’m curious what other people use and how it sounds for the styles they play. The amps themselves could be combos or giant svt rigs, 10 8” speakers or 2 15”s. What is it about this amp that keeps you plugging in each time you play?

What kind of amp do you use, and why do you like it?

Unfortunately, no. A 25 watt amp wasn’t even enough for me when they were playing acoustic and had a small drum set. My general rule of thumb is small gigs and bars, 500 watts. GK MB212 will get you there

Should I stick with a Fender Rumble 25 for gigging?

I recently bought my first bass a little under two months ago (a SUB Series Ray4) and I absolutely love it, but ever since I started listening to Rush to hear why everyone loves Geddy so much I’ve become OBSESSED with his tone, and jazz basses in particular. Watching his live performances makes me grin ear-to-ear by myself in my room. I’ve been looking into basses like the Vintera 60’s jazz bass and his signature Fender Jazz Bass as potentially being my next bass by the end of the summer. Do y’all recommend I stick with my Ray4 for the foreseeable future until I’m actually competent with the bass or is it okay to have my sights set on something that’s calling to me this early? I don’t want to feel crazy by investing in a $1,000+ bass 6-8 months after buying my first one for $300.

On a side note: I really enjoy a variety of styles of music and also feel like a jazz bass might fit my all-over-the-place taste of songs I want to learn. But I do see endless comments about P-Basses being the best “all-around” basses so I’m not sure if I should double guess myself or not.

I am looking to purchase a bass amplifier that I can use in small to medium sized venues. As I'm a beginner who is learning about bass amplifiers I hoped I could ask for advice on what I should buy?

I've always thought I should purchase the TC Electronic BQ500 along with some sort of 2 by 10 cabinet. The BQ500 seems to be good value for the price. It's advertised as a 500 watt amp but after further research it seems that it is not truly 500 watts RMS( from doing some reading it really has RMS of 353W@4 ohms and 175-200W@8 ohms).  But it seemed like good value and I was told it would be loud enough to withstand a drummer and another guitarist.

However I've recently come across the Fender Rumble 500 combo amp which seems to be well regarded and if I'm not mistaken does possess a wattage of 500 watt RMS. The Rumble would cost me 670 Euros whereas the BQ500 &amp; cabinet would cost approx 500 to 550 Euros.

I'm just wondering what advantage would there be for me to choose a bass head with a cabinet such as the BQ500 over a combo amp such as the Rumble 500? I've also discovered that there is a Rumble 500 bass head and I'm wondering why would someone choose the bass head version of the Rumble 500 over the combo version? What advantage does it actually have? I've tried looking up this stuff online but I can't seem to get a clear answer.

Any helpful information kindly provided would be much appreciated.

Question about what amp I should buy for playing small to medium venues

If the gig has a PA system, you’ll be fine with a combo. We only played smaller gigs, and my GK MB212 was plenty for the stage. It also had a direct out, so I shot right into the sound system (which worked great for recording the gig and distributing sound). While my combo is only 500 watts, it’s 39 lbs and can literally be lifted with one finger

Amp question : Head + Cabinet vs Combo ?

3- it probably won’t be an issue jamming with a loud drummer. My GK MB212 was more than enough, and it’s a 500 watt cab as well. Remember that it’s not going to have the same tone as your 4x10 cab, you’ll most likely sacrifice some mids but gain a good amount in the bottom end. Nothing to worry about, and nothing some eq fiddling couldn’t probably fix

I want to get a nice combo to carry around rehearsal between bands and I don't want to carry my 250w head+4x10 from one side to the other. 

I was watching the Hartke KB15 kickback, 500w with a 15'' speaker... I guess it's powerful enough for rehearsing with a thrash metal band kinda Machine Head style but I can't find any proper reviews ao here are my questions

- Is it loud?
- Is it reliable?
- Can it handle a loud (I mean, really loud) drummer in the rehearsal room? No problems for gigs since I always go direct through the PA with my BQ250, but I need a combo... it is that or the Rumble 100 (I am on a really tight budget right now)

I know with the bq250 + 4x10 cab it can handle it like a champ, but being just 1 speaker I am in doubt

So... the Hartke Kb15

500 watts, 40 lbs, headphone and direct outs for anything else you need. It was enough power to get us through small venues, and can be hooked directly up to the PA/house system. Snagged mine used for $490
