I like the garmin tandem for its 1440p and 30fps with super capacitor however I don’t need or want dual facing since I don’t need in cab video.  But file size can become to large, and this app can't deal with large files. There is an option to "trim" the video files to a shorter length. So far I find 5 minutes is the max.  I could however, download those bigger files by connecting directly to the computer

 -The instructions are very scant and not well centralized. The supplied pamphlet is very lacking, even the colors are wrong(for various cam modes). I find answers in different places too, that is just dumb and can be corrected. -the PIP position for exported videos needs to be a hard set option, not every time

  My first impression was on how tiny this unit is. All the better for windshield placement. I put it just under the rear view mirror. The magnetic mount was one of my buying decisions, having previous experience with the rubber suction type mounts

 For the money I paid for all of this, I expect something better for connectivity, easier than taking the dashcam into my home and plug it into a computer to get results. It irritates me that I have to sit in my truck and look at my phone, waiting and waiting, until I give up. I had to reformat the SD card to enable the app to connect recently. Not impressed

Mostly good but for the Android app.

I have the Garmin Dash Cam Tandem, Front and Rear Dual-lens Dash Camera With Interior Night Vision and the Garmin 010-12530-03 Parking Mode Cable. With that combination, it records while parked into a specific folder for parked videos and records while driving. It saves photos and videos and in my opinion, has great quality.

When I want the car, I have to request a garage employee to drop it off at / pick it up from my apartment, so there is often another person driving the car.  I'd like to get a dash cam that could record those legs and also if e.g. my car is hit while parked, or the garage employees move it when I'm not using it (would I need one with GPS to do this?).

My biggest concern is that I may not use the car for upwards of 4 weeks at a time, and don't know if there are any dash cams that can last that long on either battery or hard-wire (would it harm my car battery?).

I'd love to get some recs, thanks!

Do you think having a rear dashcam is just as important as a front?

 Placed near the rear view mirror.  The camera is small but picture quality is great. Inside my car and outside. The video captures the license plate of the cars in front of me, people walking, everything really well

Garmin Dash cams are good. Reliable. I run the Garmin Tandem on my front/inside, plus three gen 1 Garmin Minis (one for each side).

Dashcam that can take extreme heat

  The camera has only shut off twice and i only use it for 3-5 hours at a time and only 3-4 days a week. I expected better from the build quality, it's honestly kinda pricey and lacks many features VS the competition. It's a decent dash cam that does a good job, but I will be returning it if it shuts down one more time.

  The real problem is that i've noticed the camera turning off and getting hot while being used. Avg temperatures are mid 80s where i live, which I admit is a bit on the hot side, but i have ceramic G5 tinted windows that block 85% of heat, and in my opinion, i don't think those are extreme conditions by any means.  The camera has only shut off twice and i only use it for 3-5 hours at a time and only 3-4 days a week. I expected better from the build quality, it's honestly kinda pricey and lacks many features VS the competition
