 Right off the bat. my uh, just for my first set, I've already exceeded the 148 max beats per minute that I got for running with the Just with the Garmin Watch. So right there we can see an improvement. This is definitely more accurate just by doing one set jump into the second set 166 beats per minute

I'm starting to think all this time that I've been running and doing hit workouts with my watch. I mean, I know for a fact he's been lying to me, gassing me up, but I'm starting to think maybe I was hitting 195 200 bpms this whole time. When it was telling me I was hitting 170, I think I was really hitting like 195

 Now as you can see by the results that I'm showing you right now, it's clear to see that the heart rate monitor run by Garmin is a very very essential investment for any type of athletes. Ultra endurance, um, regular collegiate athletes, pro athletes. This Hrm run by Garmin is 80 on Amazon. I'll put the link in my description if you want to go check it out but it is a clear it is clearly a very worthy investment as you can see just by the the discrepancy of the of the data between the Garmin readings and the Hrm readings is as night and day

Garmin HRM-Run Review | Heart Rate Monitor Training

If you only need to measure heart rate and you don't already own or want to buy a high-end Garmin tracker, there's no point in getting the HRM-Run. If you have any other Garmin device, such as the Vivoactive ($64.95 at Holabird Sports)(Opens in a new window) , I'd recommend Garmin's more affordable Soft Strap Premium Heart Rate Sensor(Opens in a new window) ($69.99)

As with most high-quality chest straps, the HRM-Run is soft and flexible. The inside front of the strap, the part that touches your skin at the rib cage, has a thin rubber-like plastic; it's the part that reads your heart rate. The rest of the strap is covered by a stretchy nylon fabric.

Garmin HRM-Run Review | Best Garmin Heart Rate Monitor

 For the first few months this strap is excellent at what it does, but after repeated use or time in general, the ability of the strap to accurately transmit data is compromised despite electrode gel. Ive had my current strap for 6 months and the data is extremely flawed. It takes at least 15 minutes for an accurate HR to be discoveres and it often spikes anytime there's a cool down period. This is not a battery or connection issue as I use electrode gel and have replaced the batteries

 The HRM stays dialed in far more consistently than my watch HR sensors which have a tendency to waver in and out during runs. On an hour long run my watch HR finds the HR signal after a 10-20 min warm up stays locked in for awhile, then fades out. The HRM strap, especially when still 'young' - within the first few months of ownership connects and tracks HR well. This is improved by the use of electrode gel or licking the sensor pads which helps to conduct the electrical pulse

I've owned two of these external straps to pair with my Fenix 5 so while my review is critical it's also noteworthy that I keep coming back.  When it works, it works well. The HRM stays dialed in far more consistently than my watch HR sensors which have a tendency to waver in and out during runs. On an hour long run my watch HR finds the HR signal after a 10-20 min warm up stays locked in for awhile, then fades out

Erratic Data

I am very satisfied with the Italian Garmin service. My HRM-Run chest strap failed a few days before the 2 year warranty expiration. In a few minutes I activated the replacement request, a very simple procedure with shipping costs paid by Garmin.

Better, but still disconnects.

I also use a HRM strap, I picked up the HRM Pro for my Garmin 645 so I get all the run dynamics and it will record my HR even when I am out of range of the watch and upload it after.

I haven't tried starting an activity and then going away from the watch to see how that works but if I read DCRAINMAKER's review correctly it should be possible.

I am thinking about an upgrade to my kit in term of technology and the two options I have been thinking is giving the 645M to my girlfriend as she is new to running and pick up a 955 or 745 or fenix 6s or alternatively getting her a forerunner 245 (second hand) and upgrade my kit with adding a HRM strap.

I do about 40km weekly and myriad of other sports.  wondering if the chest strap brings in more benefits or the new watch :-).
