* Polar H10 wins in every situation. No surprise. * Kalenji HRB 500 is VERY GOOD in cycling and running with sprints! Also acceptable in weight training and yoga.

If I go by pace I hit the heart rate it suggested or if I go by heart rate it ends up being the exact pace it suggested so it does work scarily well. I use a Polar H10 chest strap to feed it accurately.

I have had 3 different chest straps recently… one Suunto (old and unreliable after 5 years), one Polar H10 (stolen) and now a Garmin HRM. The Suunto always had connection issues, came with a watch. The Polar - supposed to be the best but it was the worst. Even separating the unit from the strap and that thing ATE batteries like no other (think it was defective it was so bad).

A Polar H10 can record workouts on its own and later sync to the phone. A HR strap *can* also be substantially more accurate than an optical sensor, especially with darker skin tones (making it harder for an optical sensor to detect blood flow), more movement, or bursty workouts like weight lifting.
