Did any of you order the Charge 5 plus one of the newer bands? Only my band has shipped, but I preordered in early September and I see the 5 is now off of preorder so I’m a little concerned about the other half of my order. Support hasn’t been great at all. This is my first time actually purchasing a FitBit myself (my others were gifts) and this whole thing has left a bad experience for me.

Hi! I pre-ordered the Charge 5 a few days ago since my inspire 2 got moisture in it and died on me.. some issues I had with the inspire 2 were it falsely counting steps and workouts, like it would say it detected 20 minutes of swimming when I wasn't. 

How accurate does the Charge 5 seem to any of you who have gotten it? I'm personally really excited to get mine, I know it will be a big step up from the inspire 2, but I also wonder how much of a step up?

Was getting the Charge 5 worth it for you?

 I don't recommend it if you are a cyclist, but if you are wanting to track your sleep and use it for running and walking, you would probably really like this tracker.

 I love the spoon look of the tracker however and it is actually quite accurate when I do use the GPS. The smartphone app is great. I seem to look at the sleep tracking the most and it has gotten me to go to bed earlier, so that is a good thing! I wish that it would remind me to plug in the device when it gets to 50 percent, or the option to do so. Also, the alarm really wakes you up

The second thing is not really Garmin's fault, but whenever I want to use cycling mode, I check the battery and notice that it is too low, so I just skip it and that is most of the time. I have a Vivoactive 4 and I constantly use it for weight training, among other activities. I find that for most exercises I do, the reps counted are somewhat correct (+- 2 reps or so). For other exercises it's way off, but then I just manually input the number of reps I did. Not sure about the Forerunner, but the Vivoactive is a great all rounder in terms of sensors, and it's in the price range you mentioned. Reps aside, I find that my watch is spot on for counting calories while strength training, as those are more dependant on heart rate than reps anyway.

I am looking to buy my first sport watch to help me track my trainning, my main use is for running and the new Forerunner 55 model seems perfectly fine for that. 

But I also do weight lifting and the Forerunner 245 claim to be able to track that, but after looking at feedback online it seems like it doesn't track reps effectively.

Are garmin watches actually good at tracking weight training ?

  I like the Garmin app a lot. But it doesn't connect as well to other apps I used, such as My Fitness Pal or Google Fit. But I made it work.  The frustrating part is the band

 I didn't know which was more accurate, the lower numbers from the Garmin or the higher numbers from the Fitbit. Regardless, I wanted the GPS and Find My Phone so I continued using the Garmin. I had a Fitbit before purchasing this watch. I really wanted GPS and the Find My Phone feature, which Fitbit does not have. I wore both watches for about a week because I wanted to see if they tracked the same. The heart rate was the same but there were big differences between sleep tracking (two to three hours different), step tracking (by two to three thousand steps), floors, etc

Buyer Beware! Band broke after 3 months and is not replaceable or covered under the 1 year warranty.

I'm currently using fitbit versa, I've used the garmin vivosport before, and I liked it but then it became a pain to connect to GPS, somedays it'd be trying to find GPS for over 5 minutes then I'd just give up. Last time I went out I did the whole run with it still searching 🤷🏻‍♀️. However my brother has the garmin 235 (or something like that) and has no issues with that one.

But sadly for some reason it stopped charging and won’t turn on so time for a new one. As most of you will know TomTom no longer produce sports watches so thinking about a garmin but there are so many different models..

I take running and fitness pretty seriously but I won’t be climbing mountains or doing triathlons. Just need something that is reliable and gives all the usual info and connects well to phone app. 

Any thoughts ??

TomTom has died. Garmin???

 Heartrate data seems to be pretty close while at rest or during moderate activity, but tends to be WAY off during high output activity. I frequently have taken a manual pulse after strenuous activity to find the garmin to be 30 or more points off. Generally, I don't trust heartrate accuracy from the unit above about 110bpm, especially while biking or nordic skiing. Accuracy seems to be better while running, leading me to believe that using hands or gripping handlebars may throw the heartrate monitor off

While I like the size and appreciate the large amount of features packed into a small unit, I can't recommend for anyone who intends to use this device as a sole method of tracking strenuous activity. Since there is no compatibility with chest-strap or other HR monitors, that's not an option

Works OK, but some major flaws.

 GPS works great and battery life is good. The Garmin Connect app syncs fine and is cloud-based so you don't have to worry about losing stored data. Since I also own a Garmin watch (Vivoactive 3) we do a daily step challenge through the Connect app.

I've been using a Garmin Vivosport for my fitness tracking going on about three years now. Up until recently I've loved the device - has just what I need without any fluff and I appreciate a small form factor that has integrated GPS.

 Real time heart rate, stress level seem accurate, steps are off and calories are off but I expect that anyway "Its on my wrist". Setting are overly complicated for what it is. Not worth the 120.00 I paid, I would expect to pay 50

You can't really drill down on results in the app, the watch face is too small to be of any use aside from the time, or heart rate, to small to read incoming phone numbers and text, really why add that function. Its touch screen and is constantly changing functions on me when I cross my arms or other wise touch it. Cryptic messages on small screen that I have yet to look up, Poor design really. Ok, for my purposes
