 We had the optional side tank with ours and that is a very worthwhile addition. The TL;DR summary though is, this great product has a VERY short lifespan and even shorter warranty. If you buy it, get a good extended warranty and plan on having to replace it regularly For a number of reasons we always filled our unit with distilled water. That prevented any scaling or odd tastes

 Neither Opal or GE provide any repair or replacement parts, so getting it repaired another way is not officially possible. Since our unit has the strikingly familiar sound of broken plastic gears, my guess is that it will be a total loss without the ability to get new gears or a gearbox. 3. If we don't opt for the ship/repair gamble, we should just trash/recycle the unit and buy a new one

 The bad news is that it is very loud and it takes up a lot of counter space. When I'm on a Zoom call near the kitchen I have to turn it off. The on off "button" is not a button, but a touch button that does not recognize a wet finger very well. This ice maker really should be cleaned and de-scaled frequently (aka weekly) with bleach

 I have reached out to GE support and still waiting to hear back. Since I leave my ice maker on all the time and our house uses a lot of ice I have to refill the side water tank frequently.

 It doesn't respond to any button pushes or bluetooth commands so you have to manually unplug the machine for 20sec and then plug it back in. 7) Install the machine as instucted with 3"+ of space on the sides and the back. As it is an ice maker it exhausts heat. It sucks in air from the left side and expels the heat out the right side

 but campers are made to be compact and not much counter space so that's sucks... and Number TWO I wanted ice cubes I don't want these ice chunks I call them other call them nuggets cuz they melt so fast cuz the are very small and when I use them in my pop it waters down my pop ALOT

I use this product cuz our ice machine on our refrigerator work and all but when it was on and making ice cubes it would trip the breaker and our electric would go out everytime it went to make ice cubes and it's the entire kitchen that lost power but I got it for a few reasons but I wish I could of tried before I bought it cuz the number one issue is the price I paid way way to much for that for what I get...

It's a quiet, easy, simple, fast and quicker way to get ice for drinks and it simple
