Gossamer Gear The Two

I think overall it's a great two-person backpack intent for under two pounds and in a reasonable price range.

I got Gossamer Gear The Two this year and have slept in it 6 nights. So far pretty good. It only collapsed once (heavy wind).

I know that the Gossamer Gear "The Two" tent is really popular with avid backpackers but that's in the $350 range. It uses 2 trekking poles to keep it set up and is single walled so it's light but will not keep out the NE morning condensation. Bring an extra dry cloth for that.

Moving from a stand-alone tent to a pole-supported one is a big move. Personally, I have a Big Agnes Tiger Wall 2 (with footprint) and a Gossamer Gear The Two, and still prefer the former over the latter.

A new tent might be $150, but the weight savings might be a better value where as your cook set is not bad and would cost quite a bit to shave 3oz. By changing my tent from a 5.5lb Sierra Designs to a Gossamer Gear The Two.

If you switched to a cheap trekking pole tent like a Lanshan 2/Lanshan Pro 2 or a Gossamer Gear The Two, you’d get some good returns of weight savings for you and your partner for the cost, since you use trekking poles, but freestanding is a deal breaker for many, so I get it. Since there’s at least two of you and maybe more, I’d suggest upgrading the stove to something like a Soto Amicus or Windmaster.
