Pit Boss vs. Rec Tec vs. Traeger

So far this grill has been good, but not great. I had to have a replacemt control panel sent to me because the OEM one was faulty, not knowing when temps were even 60° over or under the set grill temperature. After installing the control panel, I noticed the connector on it was different than the original one, making it tough to make the connection tight. So far I’ve used it for the past year and it worked fine during last summer with the new control panel

 I’ve spoken to Mark a few times and I appreciate him sending me out the new control panel. I just wish this grill would stay in the normal range of +-30° or similar. I did use it again in the warm weather and it stayed around 230°, but it’s just unpredictable. I’d say it stays around temp maybe 70% of the time for me

 Louis ribs because it wouldn’t stay at 225°ish but instead went up to 300°. I’ve followed all instructions from the company and they are really nice, helpful people. I’ve spoken to Mark a few times and I appreciate him sending me out the new control panel. I just wish this grill would stay in the normal range of +-30° or similar

Grilla won because I could go pick it up on a long weekend, not deal with freight companies/damage and has great customer service. Honestly I am glad I did, my grills are outside, under just a cover 365 days in Ohio which is brutal weather-wise. Cheap stuff rusts out in under 2 years, the good stuff lasts for 10 or more. 3 years in, my Silverbac is still in great shape

But the ‘tank’ part, is that all I’m getting over a consumer model from a big box? 

The grill itself weighs ~300 lbs. The consumer stuff is 1/3 - 1/2 that, but the controllers &amp; pellet mechanisms all look very similar. I don’t see an upgrade here. 

Even my baby pitboss has a color display panel. 

So, beyond the lifetime steel build of the actual grill…well…what am I missing? 

For the record - I am NOT hating on high end grills. I really want this thing, but don’t know how to justify it.

I've been using a Cabelas-branded Camp Chef pellet grill for the past 3 years that I got for free from a neighbor, and it's been a great intro to pellet grills for me, but it is finally time to upgrade.  I've been eyeballing the RecTeq 700 for months, but then I saw the Camp Chef Woodwind 36 with the Sidekick attachment, and also the Green Mtn Grill Prime series (which is the only one I've physically seen in-person thanks to a new grill supply shop near me).  They all have so many options and are all relatively in the same pricing range ($1,000-$1500), but I've not found a ton of comparison reviews and I'm really stuck trying to figure out which one I should go for.  Thoughts from the hivemind are appreciated!
