 There is no pour lip to make emptying used oil easier. There are a lot of parts to clean and it can get messy (frying container, basket, lid, heating element). The heating control unit slides into place on one end but does not lock - so the whole thing can slip apart if you try to pick it up from both ends. The 24" electric cord is very short and the magnetic connector plug pulls away easily

Overall, it does a good job of frying food quickly without having to constantly flip or turn the pieces, but all these drawbacks are annoying.

Cheap quality materials

teflon coated oil reservoir pan is crap i recommend replacing it with 1/3 size 6" deep stainless steel steam table pan

Not as easy to clean as I thought it would be. I actually dread using it because of the clean up. It does make some good fried chicken however.

  Those aside, this thing is priced extremely well, gets the job done and is a great addition to my kitchen. I'd recommend it even though I'd prefer the bells and whistles I mentioned.

  Thirdly, the temperature control dial is terribly inaccurate (read: it's only got 50 degree increments, I believe it was, and 350 isn't one of them, so you need a thermometer to be sure where you're at if you're not maxing it at 375).  Fourthly, and this relates to my prior gripe, there's NO temperature indicator at all. It only illuminates a green light when the set temperature is reached.  Lastly, you cannot disconnect the heating element for easier cleaning, this is minor but obnoxious

Great Fryer For The Price

 Easy to remove the oil and clean all the parts, just make sure you use warm/hot soapy water and be careful with the heating element because that's where the electrical components are. I use a wet hot rag to wipe it down. A few individuals mentioned they don't like the cord design but I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a pretty short, but I only have the fryer out when in use then I put it away when I'm done

 Not a huge deal but a little annoying if you're looking for a precise temperature.  Side note, be careful if you're making fried chicken or anything that was marinated in buttermilk/dairy. It calls for 350°F but that's way too hot. It will burn very fast, rather than cook

 Second time, the onion rings were much too greasy. Got out the digital thermometer and when the unit showed it had reached the cooking temperature, the oil was not that hot. 375 on machine was 322 by the thermometer. 350 degrees was 296 degrees

  I chose to return it rather than go through technical support. My experiment with an electric deep fryer is done, and I'm back to using the stove.  Not many folks get one that can't reach cooking temperatures, and perhaps something happens during shipping. I would recommend these, regardless of my experience, but test the temperature of the oils when you use it

(2), if you use this on a ceramic tile, marble, or metal counter top you're fine, but fake laminate or wood is not a good idea as I noticed it gets very hot underneath and penetrates the counter top. I decided to use it on my stove top and I can use the exhaust fan as well. You can use an industrial type power strip made by "Yellow Jacket" which is yellow and black so it gives you more cord length and can handle the amps and wattage
