 If you live in the South (TX, FL, etc), regular A/C unit should generally do an OK job of controlling humidity, but if you want an additional de-humidification capacity, you’re much better off investing in a portable A/C unit. Most of them have a de-humidification mode and typically draw out comparable amount of moisture. The other great benefit there is that they pump the heat outside (through the window exhaust) resulting in cool dry air inside.  Back to comparison

 What may have happened is the "70-pint capacity" could be based on how much water it MIGHT suck out of the air in a 24-hour period under ideal lab conditions. Even here, color me skeptical. BUT it is pulling close to 4-gallons out of the Old Man Labs shop.

..and that's why it's OK to buy. I doubt any of the dehumidifiers on the market will pass a real performance and measurement test like this

The exhaust for our dryer machine isn’t sealed well and that’s how moisture is getting in. Running this thing for 30 minutes, it can reduce the levels of humidity so quickly. It’s nice because it shows you the level of humidity (in %) that it’s working near

 I was within the first 30 days after buying it. I assumed that if the product is defective I don't have to pay for returning it, but I was wrong. Amazon told me (online) that I have to pay. When I tried the third-party company who shipped it (VidaZen) they never responded

 So I made it as snug as I could by hand and operated the unit but I stood by because I 99% expected it to leak. And it did. So I removed the hose and checked it on another hose connection and it does not leak there and the gasket is in good condition and still soft and pliable. So all I can attribute it to is the threads on the hOmelabs dehumidifier at this time

 I planned on using the hose to drain the water into the condenstate pump for the AC unit where it will be pumped away.

 I will obtain another hose and see if that gets any tighter on the connection but I doubt that will be any different than this hose.  Also disappointed to see the price drop $10 the very next day. On top of the leaking hose connection so far I am not impressed with this purchase even though the dehumidifier itself seems to be working. But hauling buckets of water out of the basement was not what I wanted when I bought this

 The garage unit I have put a garden hose on it and plumbed it into a deep sink for constant draining that works well I’m very happy with that unit. If you were in small spaces I cannot recommend this unit due to the noise level if you have large spaces you will not be able to put it in a row and what you’re watching TV or trying to enjoy peace and quiet because you’re not gonna get it with this unit.

 Easy to empty the water but a little finicky to get bucket back in place straight (not a huge deal). Not obtrusively loud, but they are all going to make some noise. Purchased this unit for a 700 sq ft one bedroom apartment. A dehumidifier was a necessity as the apartment is located between a wooded area and a river. It felt humid and smelled like wet dog. We located the unit in the center of the apartment, just inside the open bedroom door

 For what it is, the unit looks nice. The controls are self-explanatory, and it's easy to dump. Our only disappointment is the noise level, it runs loud. We really didn't have options to where the unit would be located, but I would not recommend the bedroom
