Ibanez Talman TMB100 Bass Review!

Hi! Maybe you can help me: I'm looking for my 1st bass guitar to play mostly styles as of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, U2, some jazz and a little bit of Vulfpeck-ish / Lo-Fi.

I tested : Yamaha TRBX 174, Eko VPJ280 Relic Fiesta Red, Squier Precision Bass, Sterling Stingray Ray4, Höfner Ignition SE, one Ibanez which strongly ressembled the Yamaha, a Kort ACT4PJ.

I found myself loving : warm, precise, deep and round sound of Eko (1st) and Squier (2nd) / size, balance and quality of the Yamaha because I don't have to carry the neck like the Squier and it's overall thinnier, lovely for my modest-sized hands. The Eko is bigger than the Yamaha but I also loved the size (bigger but don't mind it) and balance (didn't have to carry a lot the neck, contrary to the Squier).

Bonus : Love everything about the Sterling Ray4 but is "probably" too expensive and maybe not as versatile as an Eko, Squier or Yamaha.

So : I am looking for the sound of the Eko / Squier, and the balance (don't have to carry the neck) and quality of the Yamaha or Eko, in one bass. The Eko could be great but I don't like the relic finition on them and where I live they only have them. I also loved the Yamaha TRBX 174 but the sound is a little less groovy, warm and expressive as the Eko. I would prefer a vintage style (like the Sterling, the Precision).

Do you know any bass not exceeding 350$ that could reunite these criterias in one (thin neck, warm and vintage sound, not having to carry too much neck, vintage style) ? I could go with the Yamaha but with a more modern sound, though it is precise and I love that, or the Eko but with a non-relic finition (and it's not easy to get this here).

Beginner first bass options

Cool instrument, bad packaging/delivery

The only option I see online for less than a grand is the Dean Metalman Z and the reviews are pretty meh. I’d like something that is at least as good as my current Ibanez TMB100, preferably better.

Very solid bass! I am not extremely experienced with basses, as I bought this as a beginner bass. However, it has a really great sound to it, and the quality feels nice. It is very fun to learn and play on. Only problem is that it arrived very much in need of a setup, and that setup cost a lot

I've been very grateful recently of the relationship I have with my daughter (11) because of bass.   I have been playing for about 25 years.  I can handle myself but am not incredible.  

I have 8 basses and about 6 months ago, she started pulling some of them out of the closet.  So naturally, I taught her Seven Nation Army and she was off.  

Now 6 months later, she has her own bass I got her for her birthday, an Ibanez TMB100.  Which by the way, blows me away for the $160 I paid for it.  Incredible instrument. 

I gave her a challenge to learn all of the major scales in at least 2 different positions for $100 if she could do it in 2 weeks and she did.  

One of the greatest pleasures of being a parent is being able to teach your children something and actually have them listen.  And to enjoy that time with them.  Away from a phone.  If she keeps playing I have no doubt she's gonna be better than me.  I have an amp I gave her that allows us to both plug in and be heard at the same time and shes loves that time.  As do I.

Anyway, bass is more than music.  it is a way of life.  And yes, I am high.

I have an affordable ibanez tmb100 and I love it. It was my first and have no regrets, especially at its price point.

Are Ibanez bass guitars good? I see lots of them are affordable for me in the 300-500 Canadian price range but is it worth it?
