 So you've got this graphene enhanced grip on the outsole, so I think four mil lugs they are. There's one particular sort of type of terrain that comes on the South Downs in the Uk here, and it's sort of like a chalky sort of stones and sort of chalky mud that sits over these kind of slippy sort of stones. So you get is quite a slippy sort of setup there anyway. But there were points when I was doing some of the steeper descents that actually the graphene grip didn't really cope very well everywhere else, it was fine

I am looking to retire my Altras in the next few weeks for something that is a bit more durable and also just switch to a different shoe to see how I like it. I was looking at the La Sportiva line up namely the Akasha 2s and the Karacals. I like the wider toe box on Altra's, but I want something more durable and maybe with a little more drop to try it out. I'd love to try the Bushidos, but I fear they would be too narrow for my foot. I'm going to try on a few models when I get the chance, but I wanted some feedback from you all.

 it comes in at 362 grams in a men's Uk 9.5 We've got a six mil offset on the shoe, so 25 mil on the heel and 19 mil under your forefoot. It's available in one colorway for men and for women this bold black and green colorway. and when it comes down to size, I would say the shoe is true to size with good width in the toe box

i'm training for a trail half next year and have been running in vivobarefoot trail runners for years. however, i've been running on roads in the vivos, and have lately noticed that when i hike in the vivos, the bottoms of my feet get bruised. this won't be sustainable for a half, since i won't be able to carefully avoid tiny rocks that could bruise my feet. 

so, i'm looking for recommendations on barefoot trail runners that have a little more padding, either through thicker lugs on the bottom or an insole.

long story short, i'm looking for a shoe similar to the speedcross but not as narrow. i usually run in topo athletic mnt 3's or altra superiors but i'm finding they aren't as heavy duty as i'm looking for.

i do need a wider toe box with a more narrow heel. i'm struggling to find a shoe that covers that as well as a super grippy rubber outsole and can handle long rough terrain.

any ideas?

Apparently LPs have better stability and a rock plate, and Timps have better cushioning for high mileage.

Altra users: should I pick Lone Peak 5 or Timp 3 for a 55k race in technical route?

Running in a snow covered forest

I run almost every day, but only 5-6 miles, and my feet are killing me! I tried Hoka trail shoes and they just don't have enough of a rock guard (and the biggie wafflesouls trip me up a wee bit), so I've gone back to Brooks Cascadia. Even those aren't enough of a barrier for my tender feet, I feel like I can feel every rock, no matter how tiny.

Anybody got a hint? I feel like I need some carbon graphite inserts, do they make those? 

Of course I could loose some weight too
