If you want the biggest size you can get for under $500, the Insignia NS-70F501NA22 is a great choice. In terms of performance, it isn't much of a step down versus the TCL 4 Series/S455 2022, so you're still getting okay overall performance for a large TV. It gets brighter and still has decent reflection handling, so it performs well in bright environments. It displays deep blacks with good black uniformity, but as expected for a low-cost model, it doesn't have a local dimming feature.

The 70-inch size isn't very popular, but as 75-inch TVs are hard to find for under $500, it's the biggest size you can get for this price range. It uses Amazon's proprietary Fire TV interface, which isn't much different than Google TV and is easy to navigate through the menus. The remote it comes with has a mic that gives you access to the Alexa voice assistant, which is great if you have other Alexa devices and want to use your voice to search for content.

If you only care about getting a big TV and don't want to spend too much on the best picture quality, a cheap TV like the Insignia NS-70F501NA22 is a good choice. Unlike the other TVs, it's available in a 70-inch size, making it the best 70-inch TV to buy, and the results are valid from the 65-inch model we tested. As expected for a cheap TV, it isn't as good overall as the TCL 5 Series/S546 2021 QLED, but it still has an okay overall performance that will please most people. It looks great in a dark room as it has a high native contrast ratio for deep blacks, and even if it doesn't have a local dimming feature, the black uniformity is good.

It comes with the easy-to-use Fire TV smart platform, which has a ton of apps you can download, making it easy to stream your favorite content. Its remote also has a mic you can use with Alexa to open apps and search for content. It doesn't upscale lower-resolution content as well as other TVs, but it's fine with native 4k content.

The sound on the TV is very low compared to others I have had. My sound system isn’t working with it and may have to get some assistance with connecting it. I wouldn’t buy this one again

 The sound of this TV is okay. It has a well-balanced sound profile that makes dialogue sound clear. It also doesn't have any noticeable distortion, which is great. Sadly, like any TV speaker, it doesn't produce much bass

 Overall, it's typical of most TVs, and it's fine if you're not looking for the best sound quality. If you are, then you should definitely get a sandbar or dedicated speakers for the best sound experience. Lastly, let's take a look at the smart features. The truth

 Note that being a higher end Insignia Fire TV model this TV does not have hands free Alexa like the similar Toshiba model also made by TCL/Hisense or the Amazon Omni series.

Remote fails in bright light.

 I guess I need to look into finding another compatible remote otherwise I'll spend more on than the tv before long.
