Verdict – Still a Great Tool

Life-long Android user here, who now owns an iPhone 12 Pro Max for \~8mo.

I can't wait to get rid of the iPhone. 

Yes, the iPhone has an amazing build quality, great battery life, and great cameras. But to me the major pros end there. 

For me the iOS experience ruins it, but it is an extremely personal feeling. After 8 months I just can't get used to the way iOS handles things. Maybe I was just so used to Android that it makes the iOS experience a rough ride. Idk. But if not for the Pixel 6, I may try the Sony Xperia 1 III. 

Regardless, the iPhone is going.

I’m a current iPhone user but I’ve had Pixels/Android and other iPhones before. I switch a lot. I’ve been an iPhone user for the last 2-3 years and I’ve been waiting for a "full package" Pixel since the day I switched. 

I’ll l need this pixel to be really good though cause even if I prefer android over IOS, the iPhone is an incredible device. I also have the watch series 5 so I’ll need a pixel watch announced for me to switch back. They have ads out right now with the tag line “privacy. That’s iPhone” and they pull this recent stunt. I feel like dropping them out of principal. Google collects your data like it’s oxygen but at least they don’t act high and mighty with their privacy approach. I want to try Graphene Os when it get released for the 5a

I'm on my second 2XL because the first one was replaced under warranty due to some camera bug. I was all on board with the Pixel train. Best phone & camera I ever owned. After 2 years I was ready to upgrade... The Pixel 4 was a mess with bad build quality & battery issues. So I waited a year, and Pixel gave up with the sub par budget Pixel 5.

If Google didn't make a real phone this year (P6 Pro), I'd have to choose between Samsung Note Ultra with heavy mods, or a Sony Xperia 1 III.... Because fuck tim apple.

Waiting? no. Watching? yes. Curious to see how well the new silicon pans out. Google finally building a device with more storage is also intriguing. I still have a Pixel 3 in which I take with me on occasion if I want a guaranteed good picture. iPhone 12 Pro pics are usually fantastic but I still can't trust that every pic I take will be great. Video on the iPhones blows away anything that the Pixel line has offered up until this point, I will be watching that also. I switched from Pixel to iPhone, i am waiting for Pixel 6, i Will probaly switch but no sure yet, ios has very fluid performence and the applications  Just work. Things i miss from my Pixel are, cloud gaming, astrophotography and Google photos.

Hmm, I am really interested in the 6 pro, but I an also looking at the upcoming Galaxy Fold 3. 

The thought of reading comics on a foldable is great, but I am a bit skeptical of the durability, so I am not entirely sure yet.

Time will tell, I’d like to experience android once again.

I definitely have my eye on it. I’ve had the Nexus 5, 6P, Pixel 2xl, and pixel 3a. Gave my pixel 3a to my dad and I still have my pixel 2xl, but my daily phone is an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I switched mainly for the software support. 2-3 years just isn’t enough for $1000+ phones IMO. Now that the pixel 6 has their own chip and is supposedly getting 5 years of updates, I may consider switching back. But I gotta say I love this 12 pro Max though.

I use both platforms. My daily is a iPhone 12 Pro and my secondary # / work phone is a pixel 5. My wife has a 4 xl. I like to keep relevant with Apple side and software (running iOS 15 beta currently) and my pixel 5 has android 12. Can’t say I like one or the other more, currently the 12 pro pictures are real good, but that comes down to three cameras and choice. Pixel 6 pro brings in custom soc, new cameras, and android 12 at launch and I can’t imagine it will disappoint all to much so most likely pixel 6 pro becomes my daily and my iPhone 12 Pro becomes my work phone haha. How it crumbles in my land. I am that.  I had iPhone SE since 2016.  I switched to pixel 4a 5g then 4xl this year.  I find myself reverse engineering apple features on the Pixel in order to justify using it for the 1440p display and the camera.  

For example, I use Apple Music for Android, AirPods, Usbc pixel buds, Microsoft word for android, Tutanota email, Mega Upload for cloud storage, and DuckDuckGo for web searches 😆.  I also use the Screen Balance app to fix display gamma calibration issues on Pixel devices to prevent black clipping. 

I literally don't use a single Google service at all and generally dislike them but I am pro-open-source and I like the google camera.  Only google service I use is Google lens, snd it is very helpful.  Irony is, google lense is available on iPhone. 😆

I'm currently trying to find an Apple AirPlay equivalent on Pixel and am struggling to do so.  I may end up just buying an Apple TV to use at home for home audio.  I don't like being relient on the cloud because I know that internet services and drop in and out and cut out at bad times, and I don't have access to the iTunes store on my pixel. I don't trust ISP's, so I do everything offline.  But my iPhone hurt my eyes.  The screen was too low resolution.  New iPhones haven't fixed this.  Only reason I went to Pixel 4xl was the 538ppi display 🤷🏻‍♂️.  Works great.  No more eye strain.  I put up with all the software workarounds just to avoid eye strain. I also found the Pixel sunrise morning alarm clock to be surprisingly nice, and I liked the ability to charge my phone powered off if I wanted too without it powering itself on sutomatically.  I also like the double press the power button for the camera and google lens and the squeeze for assistant feature on the 4xl.

I love new dark themes on android 11 and google maps, but these were on iOS first and I would find android intolerable without them. I also appreciate google maps offline mode -- something Apple Maps did not support.  I'm thankful Apple Music now supports Android Auto for usb digital streaming.  And Android 11's wifi printing matches the AirPrint feature I always had on my iPhone since 2016 so yeah.  Oh and I get 7h and 30mim of screen on time battery life on my pixel 4xl, way better battery life than any iPhone I've ever seen.  It is a double edged sword.  Ensures I am connected when I want to be in emergencies at all times, but fuels my adhd.

All this said, I am considering buying an iPhone 12 mini because it has 476ppi which is higher than any iPhone before it.

I also found the Pixel sunrise morning alarm clock to be surprisingly nice, and I liked the ability to charge my phone powered off if I wanted too without it powering itself on sutomatically.  I also like the double press the power button for the camera and google lens and the squeeze for assistant feature on the 4xl.</p>

<p>I love new dark themes on android 11 and google maps, but these were on iOS first and I would find android intolerable without them. I also appreciate google maps offline mode -- something Apple Maps did not support.  I&#39;m thankful Apple Music now supports Android Auto for usb digital streaming.  And Android 11&#39;s wifi printing matches the AirPrint feature I always had on my iPhone since 2016 so yeah.  Oh and I get 7h and 30mim of screen on time battery life on my pixel 4xl, way better battery life than any iPhone I&#39;ve ever seen.  It is a double edged sword.  Ensures I am connected when I want to be in emergencies at all times, but fuels my adhd.</p>

<p>All this said, I am considering buying an iPhone 12 mini because it has 476ppi which is higher than any iPhone before it.</p>

I currently own the iPhone 12pro and a Pixel 5. If I ever feel I need to be 100% functional for personal AND business, the SIM card goes into the Pixel, no question. The iPhone hardware is nice, and if you're seeking a heavily siloed app experience (very limited interaction between apps via the OS) then iOS is your choice. Very simple and mundane...why your parents and grandparents choose iPhones. Otherwise, iOS is a complete dumpster fire. It's highly unintuitive. The phone drives its user in many instances. The Apple ecosystem limitations are a serious limitation for anyone that would prefer a more open source technology lifestyle. In my opinion, avoid iPhones at all cost. Trust me when I say I have owned over 40 phones since 2005. The iPhone iOS is hands down one of the worst. The shame is that pure Android on an iPhone might be great. I'll reiterate, the hardware, although too heavy with weight imbalances and odd button placement, is excellent...iOS is a complete dumpster fire!

I currently own iPhone X but before that I've always been an android user. I can't wait for Pixel 6 (regular) but I don't like that big bezels that the regular version will have.

Current 12 pro max owner. The performance is out of this world. Battery life is proper reliable. But it still not very good at keeping some apps in the background. It kills some of the ones i use, and keep the one i dont for a long time. 
I am not sure if its the gboard, but damn some app just lags like a 5 year old phone when i do app switching. Not the kind of experience im expecting for paying this kind of price. My pixel 2 xl does better which is kinda weird. I cant wait to switch back to pixel 6 pro after 9months of having love hate relationship with this 12 pro max.

Most definitely.   But do have a Pixel 4 XL right now that I just love.   But I also carry an iPhone.

I really want to buy the first mobile phone ever to come with a Google custom SoC.  Can't wait to see what they came up with.

Plan to buy the Pixel 6 Pro on the day it is released.  I just hope I can get one.

BTW, rumors are the video recording will set a new bar.  Google is basically creating computational video that is done in real time.  Google had to develop custom silicon to achieve.

I'm the opposite, got a 4XL currently eagerly awaiting the iPhone 13 Pro. My last iPhone was a 6s when that came out so it's been a while.

Currently using a 12 Pro Max. Jumped ship after my Pixel 2 XL crapped out just like my Nexus 6P. Hopefully Google finally has their act together with the new premium devices. I miss Android dearly.

I plan switching to iPhone when my 2 yo pixel 3 leaves me. The fact that Google stopped supporting some countries (in my case Italy) is one of the reason I'm considering this.
Pixel 6 should be a real revolution at a good price to convince me buying a phone without a proper assistance or warranty (my P3 went RMA, so do my pixel earphones)

I had the original pixel XL for several years before moving back to iOS. 

I just don’t like how much slower they seem to get over time… My iPhone 6s still works just as well

The first reason is the overall domination of the apple watch over android watches. I have the Skagen Falster 3 with Google wear and it's ... Hum ... Ok. Ok if you're up to 2-3 reset / month due to syncs problems.

And u have a crush on magsafe. 

I have some batteries issues too with my pixel but it's still a great phone. Android 12 will give it a nice haircut.
