My best guess would be that iRobot assumed from the sales figures of those two as well as the Braava jet 240, what people prioritized - and that would be easy maintenance and reliability, which the m6 does reasonably well, in my opinion. Working with a pad gives a "good enough" cleaning experience for most people (most people would probably use a pad for manual cleaning too and not a steam cleaner etc.)

Look for low pile rugs that have an anti-slip coating on the bottom. I have a Samsung robot vacuum and a Braava M6 mop and I think they’re just awesome, once you get them running every day you will find it’s amazing to never have any cat hair or dust build up and wake up to a clean home every day. I have my robot vacuum run every night and the robot mop goes right after and then I have the robot mop run 3 more times daily in the high traffic area of my kitchen where dirty paw prints build up. I absolutely love these things, totally worth every penny!.

So, if you get a Braava m6 as a combo from iRobot the lid on the m6 will match the color of the Roomba lid/cover. Nice detail. And you get a nice discount when you bundle. - if your pets are trained and you don’t think you will have poop accidents that takes the j7+ out of the running.

The i7 retains the map and incorporates it so once the i7 has learned your floor plan, you can send it to different rooms and keep it out of spaces if you desire. The i3 relies on sensors and lasers and can operate in complete darkness, say, overnight. The i7 also has a camera for navigation and requires some light. We have an i3/i4 and a Braava Jet M6 mopper.
