It's not metal like the more expensive Disruption skis, but K2 does basically raise a center of the ski or a central portion of the ski that almost runs tip to tail and that's just giving the ski a little bit more stability, a little bit more power, and that kind of translates to just a more confidence inspiring feel when you're out there on the hill. Like I said, 76 underfoot, fully directional shape, there's not a twin tip shape here by any means, but if the ski lets us put it together, we do get just a little bit of tip rocker in this ski, K2 refers to that as catch free rocker, and what that's doing more than anything else is it's just making turn initiation a little bit smoother. So generally if you're choosing a ski like this and you are just kind of cruising groomers, you're probably still working on your technique, maybe not like super actively, but you're still probably progressing as a skier, whether you're really working towards that or not

 A ski like this, this modern shape will actually support progression more than a ski without that tip rocker, so it really helps kind of bring you into the turn, the ski is not fighting you as much as it would if it was just full camber, so a nice feature to have in a ski like this and just a lot of fun. Looking for a fast, fat GS turn kinda pair to round out the collection for next season.

I used the K2 Mindbender 90ti as my everyday skis last year, and was absolutely thrilled. I bought the 90s based on my experience on the 108 Mindbender the previous season, and was not disappointed. 

Like most skis I've enjoyed, I think they both have medium-stiff tips and slightly stiffer tails. A little bouncy on firm snow, but we don't get a lot of that. Adequate smears, and locked in when you put am on edge.

Me: 40s, full-time instructor in the PNW, 80 to 100 days every year. Ex racer who favored the Fischer line for most of my younger days and at the time disliked the K2 offerings. Still run a few pair of 10-15 year old race skis at times, but they're rarely the right ski for more than a couple runs.

I tend to get locked in to a brand - this applies outside skiing - and run with it. Is the Disruption 78 going to give me the kind of middle-aged thrills I am seeking?

 Hi, I'm Angela and I just got done riding the K2 Disruption 76 C Alliance. This was a fun ski. It's really good for the front side of the mountain. It's really light and forgiving and I felt like it initiated it's turns really well

 It kind of did all the work for me so it was a nice fun easy ride. It was good for long turns and it was really fun at a higher speed. It was really good for a beginner to intermediate.

Hello, I’m a newer skier having just started last season.  I’m a 43 year old male, 5’10” 195 lbs.  However, I’m progressing well and skiing all blues and some blacks at my home mountain (Gore).  Almost 100% is on-piste.  Unfortunately, the skis I was recommended last year don’t seem right for me. They are Rosiggnol sky 7’s, 164cm.  They feel too short, especially for my weight.  At higher speeds they chatter like crazy and don’t feel stable.  

I’d like to find something nearer 175 cm and basically for groomers as that’s basically all my wife and I ski.  Any recommendations?

Ski recommendation

 It's aimed at a recreational skier, intermediate to sort of going into advanced category. But I was really impressed with the performance of this ski. It's so easy to turn, yet the grip is phenomenal. It's a fantastic grip

 I'm Rob from In The Snow and I'm here in Kutai testing skis and I've just skied on the Disruption 76X from K2. It came out last year, last season, 2020-21. It's aimed at a recreational skier, intermediate to sort of going into advanced category. But I was really impressed with the performance of this ski

 And if you're the kind of skier that's looking for a piste ski, easy turning, but yet very, very grippy, I'd definitely look at this. I'd say on the steeper slopes it did struggle a little bit to hold the edge, but on anything that isn't super steep, really, really nice and smooth. It's £425 with bindings as well, so brilliant value for money.

Rob liked this ski from K2, it arrived on the scene in 2021, it's a recreational to intermediate skier, but he said it's got great grip and so easy to turn it was very easy to ski.  

It's an all mountain skier but more at home on the piste.  And on the steeper slopes it's not AS ideal but, still fine and it's great value at £425 at the time of testing.
