 Hey what's up guys, out of Keystone today taking some laps and I'm checking out the K2 standard snowboard. Alright guys we're at the top of the park here at Keystone, we're going to start off keeping a mellow, hit the first couple of tubes, might try a down rail as well and start feeling this guy out, the K2 standard. The board's feeling pretty good in the park here today, it's sliding the rails well and it actually has some decent pop which I'm glad to find, it's a flat camber board so I wasn't exactly sure how that was going to feel and another thing is that this board's also a directional twin, it's got a 3 quarter inch setback so it's pretty versatile, if you do want to spend more time in the park you can just shift those bindings forward 3 quarters of an inch and then it's going to feel much better in the park. Today though I'm riding at the reference stand so I've got the setback going on right now but yeah let's keep these laps going

It does feel pretty good in there but honestly it's a little bit stiffer than I would like personally so that's like a little bit of getting used to, as a bonus though I was able to hang onto the rails a bit better if I leaned into the tips, I think this would be a pretty solid jump board as well but probably better all mountain versus a pure freestyle board so we're going to keep going, hit up some groomers, hit up some side hits, try some butters and feel it out a little bit more for some all mountain riding. This is definitely a solid resort board, it feels really good out here making some turns doing a bit of carving and I think one thing that's really standing out, it's actually quite noticeable is that it has a slightly larger side cut than I would expect for this style of snowboard it's just over 8 meters so feels good making those longer drawn out turns it feels comfortable going at higher speeds but it does feel a little bit weird as you're just starting out at slower speeds you don't really want to tilt it on edge and really activate that side cut so you got some momentum going and it also has some good stability which is awesome for a flat camber snowboard and I think that's mainly standing from the flex so I would say a solid mid flex on this guy

 The cool thing about the standard board is that it features a high-tech-style construction called hybrid tech construction, meaning that there's a standard-style sidewall, and then K2 kind of blends it into a cap wall construction around the nose and tail to reduce weight and reduce material in the nose and tail for less swing weight on the tips, meaning that's easier to steer and drive around on the hill. Now, this is a very catch-free style board, meaning that the contact points are raised up, so if you're carving around, you'll be less likely to catch. If you like buttering and jibbing and being in the park, you can really enjoy the standard because of the catch-free rocker profile shape. For the most part, the board is going to be flat, and that's slightly stable but not overly loose when you're on groomed trails, but then the nose has a little bit longer of a rock than what you'll find in the tail, even though the nose and tail shapes are the exact same size, width, and height

The standard is a great deck overall for anyone who's just getting into boarding and wants to learn how to carve with a smooth platform. This overall has a directional twin-style shaping to it

 This is a base grind, a stone-ground-style base grind. It has a deep structure to it. I like boards that feature deep structure. Again there's a 360-wrap, standard steel edge with a radio-style side cut, and the radius on this K2 standard is great for making a little bit of edge angle for those gradual-style sweeping carves, and then when you want to tilt it up really far, you can have a little bit quicker turns, too

2020 K2 Standard Snowboard

 It just makes it really, really easy and forgiving to ride. A couple things here on the base side, we do our catch-free tune, which is a three degree edge bevel out in the tip and the tail. So again, just to help it so you're not catching your edge when you're getting going with snowboarding, we do our extruded 2000 base on here that's stone ground. So it's going to be super fast, low maintenance
