 as i said the sheath is crap,it feels cheap and looks cheap as well. i dont understand why ka-bar would outsource the sheath,to put it in perspective, its like wrapping a diamond ring in a turd,just doesn't work for me.id be willing to pay more for a knife that has a sheath the same quality. tandy leathers sells several different sheaths and i will buy one so i dont have to make excuses for the knife,it will be made in america period

 Only reason this review is missing a star is due to the blemish on the cap as other have mentioned, not sure why this is reoccurring for a high quality company such as Kabar, but it’s there. It’s annoying at first, but I’ve come to the conclusion this knife is still going to outlive me.

Amazing knife, truly a well redesigned American classic. Came hair splitting sharp out of box. Great solid feel. The composite sheath is very adaptable as far as mounting it onto a bag or anything else

Comes razor sharp and pretty easy to sharpen after much abuse. The blade is much thinner than all of my other favorite knives so is not used for heavy duty applications. The sheath was the deciding factor in purchasing this knife. The sheath is perfect and of good quality

 One thing you may need to do with either sheath, if you plan on wearing this on your belt - especially the leather sheath - is attach some 550 cord to secure the tip of the sheath(there's a hole built-in) to your leg to stabilize it when pulling it out. In terms of maintenance, I use mineral oil on the blade and store it in the cardboard sleeve it came in(as recommended by manufacturer). Haven't had to sharpen it yet b/c as I mentioned, I haven't really beat it up yet and mine came very sharp. But I did take sharpening into consideration when I selected the straight-edge against the serrated. From my research, it seems that the serrated it a bit more difficult to sharpen

 It's a great feel. I got it for camping and anything else - so I haven't beat it up, yet. However, based on experience, the quality and feel, I'm confident this blade will do it's job when needed.

Excellent blade. Very study and has a good weight to it. Not too big for me(I'm over 6' tall & wear XL gloves). After much deliberation and research, I chose against the leather handle - supposedly longer life and I do not regret it
