Going from my dads 25y old system to this KEF LSX, the difference is night and day! Not only in sound but also functionality. 25y ago my dad bought himself a soundsystem:. - 2 Brendle floor speakers.

What made you go for these over any others? How do they compare? These seem like blockbuster speakers. Your set up looks awesome! Kudos

Upgraded from 25y old system to KEF LSX

 I was worried that the tweeter and tweeter cover/guide as going to look a bit like cheap gold plastic, but that is certainly not the case. You can tell they are aluminum at just a glance. I got the black ones and overall they look pretty good but there have been a few times where I wish I was a bit bolder and went with the blue.

1.2 or 7.1.2 channels with detachable satellite speakers and licensed for all of the latest 3D formats like Atmos etc

Ive had them for about two weeks and I am quite pleased. They are amazing for almost every genre. sound like absolute butter when it comes to timbre and tonality when listening to rock/soul/R&B/disco, and provide really great imaging/sepparation/stage. Almost to an amazing extent at times given the small footprint

Once connected to the network and accessible via the KEF Connect app, you are off and running for a superb listening experience. I have them connected to a Mac Studio via USB-C. And whether I use them with iTunes or Audirvāna, the sound of my library of hi-res music is amazing. In a small office, the bass is more than sufficient and the mid and upper range and detail is some of the best I have heard

 As it turned out, our network has recently supported DHCP configuration for hard-wired Ethernet connections, and this saved the day. Therefore, once I plugged in the cat-6 cable, I was able to connect using the iOS KEF Connect app installed on the Mac Studio running MacOS. The app saw the speaker, and I was off and running to audio heaven.  Bottom line: A rating of 5 if you get it connected properly

I was considering going the other way around. Sonos Five  => KEF LS50W II 

From what I hear, KEF does have significantly better sound. For the price, it better be. I never got to experience it because my shipment was damaged in transit and I considered it a sign. 

The reasons I decided to cancel and keep Sonos are below:
1. My wife and rest of non-tech family, even my 4 year old son can start music using Alexa playing through our condo. With a traditional receiver or even Bluetooth control, they would not likely ever use it due to effort required.  Could I hack around it with an echo dot? Sure, but far from elegant. 
2. I learned that Sonos really is an eco system.  Can you setup multi room audio with KEF, or any other audio manufacturer for that matter? Absolutely.  But again, not nearly as elegant. 
3. I learned about Sonos Amp. Some day I want to have serious powerful tower speakers.  But not today.  In my head before I thought, Sonos maxes out on Sonos Five.  But with the amp, I’ve learned you can really go big on speakers.  All the while still keeping your existing Sonos whole home experience. 

The last point was my eureka moment realizing why Sonos is such a big deal.

Sell my KEF LSX and buy pair of sonos five?

 How difficult is that? I just can't be hostage of these idiots anymore, I have to return them and get speakers I really own and I can plug a source with a cable directly.

 They can turn disable your speakers remotely if they fancy. You pay $1400 and you can't use the product without them on your back al the time , you do not own the product. Their system is super cool on paper for the people at KEF's new futuristic division it seems , but a few times a day it stops working and and you have to fiddle for half an hour with wireless connections and settings and resets ect .

YOU CAN'T PLUG A SOURCE DIRECTLY IN THE SPEAKERS , only works with a wireless connection through internet and their SUPER BAD app. even if they have input jacks at the back, the jacks only work if you are online with them sniffing your underwear and it doesn't even work . Worst system ever . I bought them for the excellent sound and great look for desktops

SONOS Five or KEF LSX?

I wasn't sure if these small speakers would sound good. Once I got everything going, these little things sound great. I played some Corey Wong with his funk jazz sound and just wow. Handles all types of music

Wonderful clarity. Mids are articulated beautifully and vocals delivered wholesomely. These are fun. I intend to include a sub in this setup in the near future, but this might not be necessary
