 We've got a blade of Composite D2 tool steel. So we've got CPM D2 here on the bottom as marked. We've got a copper line here between the two steels and then an N690 stainless steel here at the top. So you get the best balance of performance in terms of edge retention and then low maintenance and durability with the composite blade

 You can see the difference in the handle milling and then again in the upgraded clip. You can also see marked on the back of the blade here is the Kershaw in-house design logo. So this is an in-house design and then the mark on the front is indicating the composite blade construction. And we'll take a look at this with a couple of other knives

Not that sharp

I bought the Dividend Model 1812OLCB with composite blade. This is well-designed and well-built. It's lighter than you might expect, and very nicely finished. Everything about it shows quality, as it should at the price

 Amazon replaced it. Obviously a prior return - someone had not been as careful as this knife clearly requires.

Beautiful but fragile

First off, this was my EDC knife. Loved the feel and functionality of the dividend, but with less than a year of use, the knife has failed me. While cutting through some cardboard packaging, a large piece of the blade separated at the first fusion point of the two materials. Although my other Kershaw knives have lasted for years on end, it seems the Dividends Achilles heel is it’s bi-metal blade composition

 This isn't so much of a complaint as it sounds, because I don't know that one could expect much more knife for this money. As it is, the Dividend is a bargain any way you slice it (pun intended - did you laugh? No? Sorry.) But at the same time, I would happily pay $10-15 more for a high-end steel that would keep an edge longer, even if it means sharpening is made more difficult.  But even with my one and only complaint, this is a great knife at a great price, and because it's leftie-friendly, my Leek will now sit on the desk while my Dividend takes its place as my every day carry option of choice

 Basically a similar size and weight as a Leek, but reversible for lefties like me. Having just unboxed it, reversed the pocket clip, and fidgeted with it for a little while, I can see that it is everything I had hoped it would be. The blade is well-centered in the frame (which hasn't been my usual experience with kershaws lately), the speed safe action is smooth, it's the right size and weight for my tastes and needs, so I couldn't be happier.  Oh wait, I did start out by saying that I can always find something to complain about, so I stand corrected: I could be happier
