Kershaw Skyline

I disagree with the fact that the Kershaw skyline was discontinued. It was a USA made g10 and 14c28n hollow grind, good ergos, ran on pb washers for 50$. The perfect USA made work knife. They should have expanded the line with more options like thumbstuds and different blade shapes instead of moving toward 8cr Chinese made knives with things like pivot covers (???)

Months later, my wife called me at work to tell me she had found a knife while cleaning out a closet. She asked me what knife I had lost, and I excitedly told her it was a Kershaw Skyline, only to be disappointed when she told me it was one of my other knives. Turned out it was all an elaborate ruse - father's day was a couple of weeks later, and lo and behold, I received a brand new Skyline.

As a seasoned self supported rider of decades this was the hardest ride I've ever done. There are lots of long climbs in the rockies and higher altitudes too, but he Blue Ridge (and the Skyline) just never stop. No level spots to speak of and the down hills don't last long. Probably didn't help that it rained every day, and sometimes all day.

The Skyline Trail is well maintained throughout, and the views on this section were phenomenal. As I started the descent from Mud Lake to Big John’s Flat it started raining. With not many miles left to go today and plenty of time, I hung out in a cluster of trees for 25 minutes and let it pass. I then finished the descent and found a nice dry place to camp just before the Big John’s Flat trailhead on a thick bed of pine needles under some trees.

First off if you are not use to carrying a knife every day don't get an expensive knife right of the bat if you lose it you feel like crap and you don't have a backup. Get a couple of good inexpensive ones first like, Spyderco Centofante 3, Kershaw Chill, or Kershaw Skyline All of which I have carried for over 5 years. After a while go for the Benchmade 940, Microtech, or Zero Tolerance.
