Just buy the double bag of Kingsford, you should buy or borrow a Weber chimney starter to start the coals and get them going.

So I have a stupid question, I’ve only ever used a gas grill but we’re going camping next week and the cabin has a charcoal grill, we’re only bringing along one of those little Colman single burner grills to use for boiling water and such so majority of our meals will be done on the charcoal grill. My question is, how much charcoal do you think I will need to bring for a weeks worth of grilling? Also, if you have any tips for a noob, or preferences on types of charcoal, that would be great!

  As far as value is concerned, buying something at Amazon is a choice. They never claim to be the cheapest store on Earth and there will always be a cost for the convenience of having it delivered to your front door. The size of the bag (which is clearly and accurately stated) and today's price compared to local discount stores has zero to do with how the product performs. While some people may prefer to buy the giant economy size, others like me prefer the smaller easier to handle bags

Buying the smaller bags also helps keep your briquettes dryer so they light faster and burn hotter.  The proof is demonstrated by how the food tastes, right? As the taste of the rib eyes I grilled over these briquettes will attest, this charcoal is about the best you can get

 Any of the generic store brands I've tried are just half-hearted clones that never give the same results.  Kingsford makes several varieties of charcoal briquettes; this one is the standard everyday variety. For best results, store it in a cool dry place.

Overall, I think Kingsford blue bag/KBB is the top for briquettes based on neutral flavor, availability, and price. Kingsford competition is even better in my book, but harder to find or find regularly in my area, SE Michigan. I'm still burning through the last of my Home Depot clearance haul from Oct 2019.

I only grill over charcoal, much better taste and smoky flavor than gas. You want clean charcoal preferably natural and with no starters or other chemicals added that could affect the flavor of your food. These bags are a good size if you ever need to take any with you. The bags are not a great deal larger than my foot

When it comes to charcoal briquettes, I used Kingsford Blue Bag (KBB) exclusively for a long time. However, I recently switched to Kingsford Professional because it has become more cost-effective (less expensive) and produces less ash, so less clean up. I also use lump charcoal for some cooks as well.

Getting a Weber Smoker....

 I do recommend Kingsford charcoal if the price is right. Buying this on amazon at a price of $18 for 2 bags its a little steep, I can get 2 larger bags for $9 at my local big box store, but you are paying for convenience of getting it delivered. Overall I recommend this if the price is acceptable to you, the quality is what you would expect.

I'm a long time user of Kingsford with myWeber 731001 Smokey Mountain Cooker 22-Inch Charcoal Smoker, Black . This charcoal is awesome I put it in my chimney to light it, let it get to temp, pour it in and can easily smoke a turkey with one load of charcoal. It burns slow but hot and is easy to get the right temp through adjusting vents. Once it's the right setting you are good to go

A Good Choice for Briquettes.

Got some Cowboy at Costco for good price... doesn’t seem too shabby, thoughts?

 No extra lighter fluid soaked in like the matchlight stuff, so you'll need to actually add lighter fluid or (my preference use a chimney starter like this one, which I bought and love:Weber 7416 Rapidfire Chimney Starter . The charcoal stays lit, cooks well, and while it doesn't quite have the same qualities as a good lump charcoal, it's decent stuff. A little pricey through Amazon, though I guess if you don't have a store nearby, it's a handy option.
