When it comes to charcoal briquettes, I used Kingsford Blue Bag (KBB) exclusively for a long time. However, I recently switched to Kingsford Professional because it has become more cost-effective (less expensive) and produces less ash, so less clean up. I also use lump charcoal for some cooks as well.

It sounds to me like these are briquettes that are presoaked with starting fluid, and if that's the case, I would not use them. That's not a flavor you want. Personally, for a turkey, I would use Kingsford Professional. Add coals before the last of you fuel dies, and use air flow control to keep them from flaming up and getting too hot, risking a runaway.

We got an $88 charcoal Kingsford from Wmart about 5 years ago and it's a champ! Sometimes I wish it was bigger but that's it. Two grates, adjustable pan height little door to add more fire when we slow cook.

I've used the long-burning before and it does burn longer, but agree with the comment below that kingsford professional is probably the best of the kingsford line (but regular blue-bag is fine). There are other briquettes out there as well, such as royal oak and jealous devil (they do lump and briquette) you could try as well.
