We think the Kobalt KCS is one of the best of the mid-sized saws because it leaves little to be desired. This saw can cut both soft and hardwood across the grain at full depth with little difficulty. The shoe adjustment levers for depth and bevel are easy to operate. Even more impressive, Kobalt distinguishes itself with unrivaled battery life. No other saw we reviewed even came close.  
Although you're more likely to wear out before this saw's battery dies, it does suffer a bit in some aspects of ease of use. Sightlines on the leading edge of the shoe are off, which can lead to short cuts. Also, the bevel lacks positive stops, which requires attention because the bevel extends all the way to 50˚. Despite these shortcomings, this is still a super effective saw.

 We just cut all that five quarter by six up and we just used one quarter of this four amp hour battery and yeah, I'm pretty impressed so far with the power of this saw and also this six and a half inch saw blade that you get with it, it's actually a pretty good carbide tip blade that comes with it too, that pile of five quarter by six over there is old decking boards and you know they've got dirt all embedded in them and everything and it was still cutting through them like butter. Definitely got plenty of power, works pretty good too with the, you know how much the energy pool draws voltage whatever for your battery life. There's about 12 cuts on each board something like that and there were 12 boards in that pile so pretty good amount of cuts. for your battery life

 Hey Shalom y'all, hey guys it's Fletch, welcome back to OTH and what you're looking at right now is the Cobalt Brushless 24 volt cordless circular saw and some of the specs off the top it's a six and a half inch blade rather than a seven and a quarter however because of the how far the your center point here where that is on the saw it will cut as deep as the standard seven and a quarter inch blade because you can adjust it down far enough so that's kind of an interesting thing and i tried it out yeah it really does work that way i was a little skeptical at first but it does indeed do it of course like i said it's a brushless design so you know it's a little bit better than you know just your average one it has plenty of power too it's not like a lot of your very typical cordless power tools where if you know you press on it just a little too hard it starts to bog down this actually has impressive power it'll run at 5400 rpm it's got a zero to 50 degree bevel it weighs 6.73 pounds so you know it's not super lightweight nor is it heavy it's kind of a nice medium it's got an electric brake so as soon as you let your finger off the trigger it'll automatically break for safety it's got a built-in led work light and as with all of your cobalt brushless power tools the 24 volt line has a five-year warranty and all of the batteries work in all of the tools so far i've had this for about a year now and i'm very impressed with it like i said it has great power it's smooth it's easy to use and i've recorded some footage of me you know cutting up different things you know here on the homestead so far i really like this circular saw and i'm glad that i bought it i think it was a good investment and so without further ado let's take a look at the tool in action hey shalom y'all it's fletch welcome back to OTH so what we're going to be looking at right now is the cobalt 24 volt max call it it's their brushless line 24 volts and this happens to be a six and a half inch blade that's in here but because of the design of this it can actually cut as deep or deeper as deep or deeper than you know your standard seven and a quarter inch saw so what we're going to do right now is uh i've already set the depth on it and it helped if i had a battery so let's see here yeah four bars all right and i already set the depth we're going to go ahead and we're going to cut this three quarter inch cdx plywood so let's go ahead and do it so so well as you can see there more than enough power plenty power to uh cross cut that and i have used it to do some ripping as well and so far i've not uh you know found anything that this thing couldn't cut which is pretty remarkable in in some ways when you consider that you know it's just battery operated and so you know a lot of times your battery operated tools now are pushing the same type of power as corded are especially if it's at the end of you know 50 75 or 100 foot um cord because of the resistance on the cord so there you go so So there's a lot more running out here as I'm recording this so hopefully you can hear me. First time handling a circular saw, and this felt smooth when cutting 2 x 4s. Must have power tool. Only comes with a one starter blade, and does not come with battery. I particularly love the ability to tilt/list plane to make different cuts

 I ripped a lot of sheet goods with this stuff and a couple 2x4s during that project. Now in the testing of this for this video I ripped a variety of sheet goods and obviously dimensional lumbar and things like that. Now the saw performed ok again it has a thin curve blade to help reduce the power consumption or the need or the power needs to get through some of those cuts. For me this saw did exactly what I needed to do it rough cut some material who's going to buy this unit somebody that is a DIYer someone that needs a cordless solution in the shop that may not use this every single day maybe once a week once a month something like that
