 I needed a comfortable, durable boot that provided good traction for my Mount Whitney hike. These boots formed really well to my foot. They were comfortable and provided a lot of support. I hiked over ice, mud, dirt, steep slopes and even in water and over slippery rocks

Lightweight but fragile

 so there are options. There are a lot of good good, really good options. Um, out there in that price range. It really depends on your fit, on your personal preference and this to me is definitely in the in the top three, not number one, but in the top three

 They meet the criterias just perfectly. They're mid-sized they're waterproof. They're they fit excellent. They're extremely comfortable

 So just so we clear. So let's start from uh, the very first factor that contributes to the comfort level, of course, is the weight. And uh, this is size 10. And the size 10 is, let's see, visible

 Keep that in mind. Um, usually I recommend getting half a size bigger for your boots so that you have a little bit of extra space here at the front. With these, I would recommend going probably the whole size. The whole size

 Now let's look at some of the stats on the Ultra Raptor 2 Mid Gtx. We start with the drop where we have 12 millimeters and we can also talk about the overall height of the midsole as well. So at the front it's 16 millimeters and moving to the back it's 28 millimeters so the difference between those two numbers gives you the drop of 12 millimeters.  Now we have our ortholite mountain hiking footbed liner and that's a five millimeter thick one. So now looking at the midsole and outsole of the shoe, we have injection molded Eva which is our cushioning layer and gives a great amount of comfort. And looking at the bottom of the shoe, you can see here from the side as well as the bottom you can see a stability element which is a Tpu shank and that helps to stop that twisting or torsional movement which you get when you're walking over uneven and and more tricky difficult ground. the bottom of the Shoe: The rubber compound we use here is our friction white

As a light hiker, this shoe could go all day. A runner-like fit lets you go off road - both up and down, when you need to. The grip of the sole offers sure-footed ability on any trail.

A few things to think about: This shoe comes in Euro sizing. I ordered a size 42.5 based on the conversion from a US 9.5 on REI

 I really should've gotten a 43. So pay attention to the sizing, but best idea would be to try it on. 

Trail-runner? Light hiker? You decide!

Great all around hiking boot.

These fit me quite well, which is a big achievement. Right foot is 10 A/B and Left is 9.5+ B. The smaller foot requires 2 socks and added padding around the heel

 Even wearing 2 pairs of mid-weight wool socks! A few others have noted it as well, but it doesn't appear to be a factor for most. Given the great fit, I was tempted to keep and try to cover the seam with some type of cushioning. But, it's more work than I want.  Still would recommend to others, with a caveat to watch out for this design err

. all of it seems to check out with mine. I'm excited to get more experience with these, and hopefully I will be back to leave a better review.
