I’d say Narciso Francisco Her and Lancôme Idole. I know they’re not like hidden and unknown, but I haven’t heard a single popular reviewer mention them. I think they both bloom beautifully.

What fragrance or fragrance house surprised you and why?

<span>I bought this as a replacement for my wife's perfume and while the bottle is larger than her last one, the bottle is too thin to stand up on it's own and she has to lay it down. Luckily the stopper holds the perfume from spilling but it is not normal to lay the bottle down and it does not display well. I love the scent of this perfume!</span>

 So poor song choice for that commercial. And you know, I'm not saying it's a bad fragrance by any means, it's not a bad fragrance, it's a pleasant scent. Like if I smelled it on somebody, I would think they smell nice, they smell very fresh, floral. I don't know if they'd really stand out to me, but they would smell nice, just nice, you know? Not, wow, what are you wearing, oh my god, you smell amazing

 If you like a clean rose, you don't mind spending whatever the full price is right now, you just like a nice clean rose with a little bit of pear, a little bit of musk, but kind of something safe, it is very safe, it is very office friendly. I have to do a quick follow up because after I criticized Idul, I played with it a little bit and I layered it and I layered it with Diane by Diane von Furstenberg and it was just random, this is a patchouli based fragrance, it's patchouli, musk and myrrh and it has some like florals in there, it's like a little bit of like violet and frangipani but honestly if I hadn't looked at the notes I wouldn't be able to tell, it just smells mostly like patchouli and musk and when I layered it, magical things happened, there became depth, there became opulence, it was like, it honestly reminded me a little bit of midnight poison which I recently got to try a little decant of it and the way that these two combined, the rose in here that seemed like a basic musky rose that I criticized, when it combines with a patchouli, with like a musky patchouli and I'm sure you guys can layer it with a different patchouli and play with it but honestly, now I feel like it might be worth it just for layering purposes, like combining this type of rose with a patchouli like in here, like it's not sweet, it's like a fairly dry musky patchouli, it's pretty, it's very feminine, it's not heavy, it worked out really well layering these two.  No. Eh, I probably wouldn't even give them a compliment, honestly. I would just think that person is clean. It's very lackluster, very whatever, you know? When it's on sale, like I wouldn't go and buy this full pop right now, but when it's on sale, if it goes down to $30 or $40, I might buy it, it's one of the, I wanna say, it's not one of the worst rose releases of the last year or so, there's been worse, there's been worse releases in general, so I'm not gonna say, oh, it's the worst release ever, I'm just saying that the fragrance and the commercial don't match, you know? It actually is quite lovely. For me, it was Lancôme Idole. First I smelled it on paper and it was nice, fine, kind of generic-smelling.

Here is mine: I’ve never understood the hype over Flowerbomb. I’m not sure why exactly but the fragrance has always been utterly generic and forgettable to me. Like, I’ve forgotten what it smells like minutes after spraying it! I put its popularity down to most people having basic /  uninteresting tastes. But recently I’ve received a load of flowerbomb testers , so been spraying my way through them just to get rid of them. Yesterday I found myself thinking “what is that amazing smell?” And I realized it was flowerbomb. While I probably won’t rush out to buy a full bottle, all of a sudden I’m noticing notes that I hadn’t before, the mellow and soft patchouli / musky base notes. It’s so weird to me that I never noticed those before, but suddenly I get why it’s so popular. 

So - which fragrances are your personal late bloomers and what changed your minds about them?

Fragrances that are growers not showers?

<span>The scent is great but when you order for Mother's Day, get confirmation that it will arrive the Friday before Mother's Day and then at the last minute receive a notification that it will arrive 4 days after Mother's Day there is a problem!</span>

I get to go home this weekend and see my parents! So excited, since it's been more than a year since we saw them last. Will be a bit of a challenge schlepping the kids there, especially the toddler that is **not** socialised at all (thanks, covid). Still, going home! Yay!

<span>I got it when it was on sale for around 1 dollar and I think it was good value for what I paid. Although I was a but disappointed when it came in and the bottle was only filled to at most 1/3 of the way.<br>I did get a YSL l’homme eau de parfum sample which was about half full which smells amazing.<br>AND a 4 shade sample for a Giorgio Armani foundation
