 I'M not a huge fan of companies advertising these refresh rates as overclocking. It'S usually just a way for lg to avoid fixing units that can't quite hit the advertised 160hz refresh rate. That said, while you might not get 160hz on every 34g and 850, i'd expect the vast majority to work at that refresh rate, and certainly my unit had no issues in either case. Lg guarantees 144 hertz on this display

 The 34 gk 950f was no slouch in terms of response times, but this new ultra wide panel should elevate the 34g and 850 to the next level. Lg have also found a way to increase the refresh rate now topping out at 160 hertz up from 144 hertz through an overclocking feature in the display's osd. I'M not a huge fan of companies advertising these refresh rates as overclocking. It'S usually just a way for lg to avoid fixing units that can't quite hit the advertised 160hz refresh rate

 Design is a little strange, particularly where the legs connect to the pillar, but that's a minor nitpick. The osd is still controllable through a directional toggle right below the lg logo. Not an amazing feature set i'll, be honest. There is a black stabilizer and cheat crosshairs, but that's about it

, So the pixel response time is clearly, obviously noticeably not as good, and if you do things other than gaming like, if you want to get some, you know work done on the side. For example, the extra screen real estate of a 38-inch vs. a 35 inch display can be a big difference maker., So I have to make a decision now

 The one millisecond response times with an IPS panel was something that, at the time I was taking with a huge mountain of salt like this much salt, because we've heard those kinds of claims from manufacturers before.. The thing is: LG has since elaborated on the technology that they're using in this display saying that their new way of creating an IPS display can achieve response times that are comparable to TN panels and the little brother of this monitor. The 27-inch version has already made its way through our lab And here's the crazy thing the claims actually hold up

G-Sync "Compatibility"; Beware

 Only small amounts of ghosting but fast clearly tops that with excellent performance at the maximum refresh rate of 160hz. Faster is the overdrive mode that lg specifies the one millisecond greater grey response time for looks beautiful, doesn't it honestly don't use faster and go for fast? Instead, fast is also the best performer at 144hz and 120hz. So fast is an excellent choice for adaptive. Sync

 However, that little cable routing thing is quite practical to have now the real style of the show, obviously, is that wide 34 inch panel and was pretty curious to see how the gaming experience would be and which games even support that 21 by 9 aspect ratio? To begin with, warzone and modern warfare are pretty well optimized for ultrawide gaming, aside from a few short cutscenes that have black bars on either side, but where it matters, the game expands across the whole screen, giving us a pretty neat fov advantage. There are quite a few pixels more that need to be rendered. This still is far less than 4k, but you still need a somewhat capable system to probably drive this monitor, though i assume you will have that if you spend about a grand for a monitor now for that kind of money, we would expect not just getting a Big panel, but a fast one as well and fast response times and therefore less mirroring clearly, is a major selling point of lg's nano ips panels. As usual, i've used blurbuster's pursuit camera technique to capture the motion performance

After a year of use, many dead pixels

In regards to panel tech/quality/ refresh rate... I have a nano IPS 165hz 34 inch Gsync UW that cost me only slightly more last year than my previous 16:9 144hz IPS gsync monitor did

I had been using an Entry Level 29" LG UW and Recently Upgraded to a 16:9 Monitor, While everyone here knows about the pros of UW, Im gonna talk about what i felt were some Cons

1. Higher Price Tags Making it a shrunk instead of extended monitor imo, For Example the price on w 34" UW is similar to 43" 4K One so the UW is more of a chopped off 43" than a extended 27" one (prices may vary where you live)

2. Lack Of Support in games - Recently more games have started supporting UW but generally their support is not as good as 16:9 ones (pop ins etc), some games like valorant dont support UW at all while some games just warp the sides and provide very less new details

3. Videos Are A Bit Less Sharper - This is because all 21:9 video files have their top and bottom chopped off and not their sides extended, for ex. A FHD movie has res of 1920x800 and NOT 2560x1080, while on YT we can load higher up quality to fix this but on streaming apps like Netflix we cant do that and UW are stuck on worse Video quality

4. Slower Refresh Rates, For Example finding a 165hz 16:9 is much much easier and in some cases high refresh rates UW are not available at all

5. Graphic Designers or editors who prefer high PPI displays are not given much choice, for example we can get a 4k 27" which has a ppi of 165 but to get similar ppi in UW we have minimal if any choices

6. Worse Panel Tech - While high end 16:9 monitors are switching to oled and mid range are getting newer techs like Nano IPS and usually a better HDR perf due to finding monitors with HDR600 much easily in 16:9 form factor

7. Worse Panel Quality - after browsing fee subreddits, i feel that defects like IPS glow and black uniformity are worse on UW monitors

Keeping These reasons in mind, instead of getting a 2k 34" 100Hz monitor, i got a 27" 2k 165Hz for gaming and secondary 4k60hz for content consumption

PS. I skipped using Natural cons like running a UW is more demanding or UW takes up more desk space as everyone knows that
