 Now, the version I'm taking a look at today is the 38-inch UC99 with a 21:9 aspect ratio. So this is a huge monitor. Now, this retails for around 1499$ and features a USB type-C connector, which makes it a great display for the latest. MacBook Pro

 So, once everything is assembled, I can upright the monitor and pull off all the plastic and styrofoam protecting it. Now This is a really good looking display, especially in my setup: I Have this very large desk and I really like how this kinda fills it out. So, It's also got a very thin bezel along the sides and I really like this matte screen, which means it's less reflective which is important in my setup because I film here. The Back of the display is very minimal: it's just very smooth white plastic with a very glossy finish

 So, it looks very nice from whatever angle you're viewing that at.. We Also get this very wide base that's curved and kinda replicates the shape of the monitor and that metal finish also reflects the light from the LED indicator that's on the bottom of the monitor. So, in terms of our ports,, you have quite a bit going on back here,

The BIGGEST UltraWide Ever - LG 38UC99 Review

Currently have a 6 year old 34" ultrawide and going to be upgrading to a newer/better panel soon but haven't yet decided if I will stick with the 34" format or upgrade to the 49" options. Just put together a new PC but thus far have only been able to get my hands on a 3060. Far better than the GTX 1060 it replaced, but still on the low end of the spectrum for modern GPUs. Ultimately trying to gauge whether a 49" 1440p panel is going to be too much screen to power with a 3060. 

That said, curious to hear what everyone is running for a GPU for their ultrawides, whether you game at all, and what kind of performance you get.

What's Your Ultrawide and GPU Combination?

 This cord seems to be hard to find not to mention super expensive. I wish they came with a longer cord considering it doesn't work with just any usb-c to usb-c cord. (I tested it with the macboook pro charging cable and nope, that thing just charges) Really thought they'd give it thunderbolt compatibility like the LG 34UC98-W, especially at this price.  Poorly Designed Navigation Menu Button: So besides the fact that it's not compatible with apple brightness keys, in order to change the brightness on the display it's a 4 click operation

 So I tried it on my roomates 2015 MBPr and it worked pretty well with display port. I decided to upgrade to the new MBP Late 2016 (w/touchbar) to utilize the USB-C and fix the refresh issues I was having. It worked for a few hours, then went back to the same issue. I called LG to see if they can solve the issue but while I was on the phone I restarted everything and the issue disappeared

 To this day I've seen it come back once.  USB-C Cord WAY TOO SHORT: I have my computer on a stand directly to the left of this monitor and if I didn't have a port on the right side of my monitor it wouldn't reach. This cord seems to be hard to find not to mention super expensive. I wish they came with a longer cord considering it doesn't work with just any usb-c to usb-c cord

  So let's get into the issues...  CONS:  Refresh Rate Issues: Knowing that this was probably best used with USB-C I went ahead and got it anyways and hoping that it would work well with the supplied HDMI cord on my MID 2012 MBPr

I Love This Thing BUT...

[music] [applause] [music] [Applause] [Music] Hey, what is up guys, how are we doing and welcome back to another video. Now today we're finally reviewing their LG you see 99 Situated behind me, there's a curb ultrawide monitor with a resolution of 3 840 by 1600. It's got free sync technology it's IPS it's 75 Hertz but it's 38 inches across. This thing is absolutely huge

 Do you think it's a hundred? Hertz I Think that's a better option for a lot of people. whereas this, the input lag is a little bit too high. It has briefing text which I think was the correct decision by the way, because you don't pay the G-sync tax, but because you could have run this at such a high resolution at the time of filming there on any AMD graphics card that will be able to drive this at high details at this resolution and respectable frame rates. which means that realistically, you're sort of limited to 480 or 580 crossfire if you really want to play games on this monitor without any compromise at all

 As long as you do have a compatible graphics card that can drive this and of course for everybody else that doesn't give a toss about gaming, then this is one of the best monitors you can use. Just be aware that it is very big and it's very, very expensive. but as long as you're prepared to pay that I think you're going to be rewarded with a monitor that will keep you going for a long time unless we start talking about HDR because this monitor doesn't support that, which is something that a refresh of this monitor may well do. Overall, it does win the Top Performer award as it is quite expensive

 If you have bluetooth headphones or speakers, then this monitor can connect to those over bluetooth, which is pretty cool. Something like The PG 3, 480 or the Acer Predator X 34 is cheaper and it's more responsive at suppose. Do you think it's a hundred? Hertz I Think that's a better option for a lot of people. whereas this, the input lag is a little bit too high

LG 38UC99 Review - An Incredible Monitor!

 So having this monitor to watch full-screen movies on here and there is a bonus.  I am replacing two 2008-ish Mac Cinema HD 23” monitors with this LG (had the Samsung for two days). Again, the size is small to me coming from two monitors to Samsung’s 49”. But at the end of the day, the better specs of the LG were a more sensible investment

 And the more I use it, the more I’m feeling that ergonomically, the size is likely best.  I too noticed the wobbling that others have mentioned. The speakers are okay to me. I am using my Bluetooth headphones, and the icon didn’t stay on-screen long

 Again, the size is small to me coming from two monitors to Samsung’s 49”. But at the end of the day, the better specs of the LG were a more sensible investment. And the more I use it, the more I’m feeling that ergonomically, the size is likely best.  I too noticed the wobbling that others have mentioned
