So i had the LG OLED C7 since 2017 and i loved it but yesterday my tv finally got burned in while playing video games.

I don't want to get the C1 and when I am unhappy with the picture. To be thinking about how much better the Sony will be. Have a C7 LG right now. Plus not a fan of the new Webos in the new Lg sets.

I now basically have a CX panel, with C7 electronics.... LG provided really excellent service. In later generations, this issue has mostly been solved.

Having said that, I have had an LG C7 for 5 years that has only now just started to show minute signs of burn from the TV’s YouTube app logo on the top right of the screen when browsing YouTube videos. (Probably 30 mins a day over 5 years total wear in that area). Your use case though I would probably recommend a high end FALD LCD. The 50 inch QN90B is a great choice for “near OLED” like dark room performance but without the risk of burn.

Rtings.com did a "burn-in torture test" in a very well set-up and controller experiment, 20 hours on and 4 off of content that was most likely to cause burn-in, as well as a second, more realistic experiment with 6 LG C7 OLEDs, mimicking normal varied content. As of 9k hours, only a few specific circumstances resulted in image retention, and these panels are also several generations old as well. Bottom line, unless you NEED maximum brightness, OLED is the way to go.

I switched from an LG C7 after seeing severe burn in after a year or so, I purchased the Best Buy geek squad protection and they wouldn’t replace the tv and would only install a remanufactured or used panel. I contacted LG and they would replace the panel for $1000 but only guarantee it for 4 months. I figured for $1000 I would try the u8g and so far it’s way better in every aspect. If LG has fixed the burn in issue maybe the c1 is worth the extra $700, as far as Vizio goes I went through 4 p65’s before finally calling it quits but maybe the oled has better quality control.
