I have been researching for years and know all about speed queen, maytag commercial, etc. Before i moved we had a ge commercial pair that were flawless for 20 years. I love the old style agitator but unfortunately its not an option in my new house. The people who built the house designed the laundry room such that side by side units are impossible. I can only stack front load washer and dryers. The current kenmore units are 13 years old and working fine but the washer just smells horrible. I have cleaned everything inside it multiple times and ran numerous bleach cleaning cycles. It helps for a few days and the smell comes back. We are ready to replace them at this point. What would be some good models to look at? I dont need anything fancy, just medium to high capacity. I really don't like HE but i dont think we have a choice. We will spend for the best. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Context: bought a home that needed a full gutting and now need to order new appliances (dishwasher, range, range hood/microwave, fridge) ASAP. 

Problem: I did not think it would be this overwhelming to pick an appliance!! I've been researching for days and every single website says slightly different things!! same for Consumer reports! so far it seems the main contenders are: LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, and KitchenAid (but this is made by whirlpool). 

I have also read that the bells and whistles that come on Samsung appliances tend to break down faster than expecting. and have read that some people HATE whirlpool, but apparently it's better for repairs long term?  I've been scouring this subreddit as well for recommendations but it all seems so subjective to people's needs!

It is hard to judge without a side-by-side comparison, and maybe we over stuffed to old guy whish is why it had some problems, and I could in fact stuff more into the new machine if I wanted

 You just turn the machine on, put a detergent plug into the drum, load, dial up your clothing match, and press the run button. The washer appears to have some AI that checks the washer load to see if any timing adjustment is needed off the baseline you dialed in, but maybe that is my imagination. Point is anyone can use these with great precision without any effort. Kind of makes up for the crappy manuals

 2. no-brainer operation. If you are not into all the options worry not, you don't really need them. There are so many presets on the dial, you almost can't fail to find a setting that works for whatever you are cleaning

I replaced a 20 year old Maytag with a new LG washer/gas dryer set and I love it. Dropped my water bill and electric, since I switched from an electric dryer.

We bought a 22 year old house that came with a Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer that are probably almost as old as the house. While the machines still work fine, I'd like to replace them before they completely die. Also, the front loading washer has some gross soap/lint build up under the rim of the door seal (not on the door, but on the machine), that likely hasn't been cleaned in ~20 years and seriously grosses me out. 

Any recommendations for good new machines to buy? I'm open to front loaders, top loaders, and agitator machines. Units need to be side by side, not stacked, and dryer currently has a gas hookup, though we can ask out electrician about installing an electric one. Budget isn't too much of a concern, but would prefer to stay under about $2k total for both machines. If a really good machine is higher though, we'd definitely consider it.

Hello everyone, my Samsung WF220ANW washing machine was pretty good to me for 10 years. It's now leaking water and in the ten years I've had it, I've already had it serviced twice. So, I'm thinking it's time to go ahead and get a new one. I'm the type to research until I'm comfortable before making big/important purchases, but the more I research new washers the less confident I am. 

The two choices I had narrowed it down to are the Samsung WF45R6100AP and the LG WM4000HWA. 

I prefer front loading, a sanitize cycle, and a quick wash option. I'm not looking to spend more than $1,000.

If anyone has any suggestions or warnings PLEASE RESPOND🙂

Washing Machine Recommendations

For the dryer I went with gas instead of electric.  The gas dryer was slightly more expensive but I already had the hookups for both and the conventional wisdom seemed to suggest that gas is more efficient (the trend in my energy bill seems to show this is true).  Out of all the features I think the best is that I can open the dryer door to the side to unload it, then I can close and reopen it from the top to load it.  It's easily my favorite feature

  For a top loader it is quite efficient on water and the downward trend in my quarterly water bill seems to confirm that.  One more good thing about our new LG is the spin cycle has some mechanism to offset an imbalanced load and the only way I can get it to go off balance is if I put something ridiculously huge like a heavy blanket in there all by itself.
