So I bought my first house. Yay. And with that house it came a huge amount of living space, hardwoods, linoleum and low pile carpet. A finished basement to boot. Yay. So I went out and bought an ‘adult vacuum’ and grabbed the Dyson cordless V11 Torque. I’m not convinced it was worth the hefty price tag. I’m looking for convenience up and down stairs and to get rid of the tons of dog hair my dog sheds by the minute...it seems. If it were up to my husband, he’d buy an upright or canister vac, corded. I just don’t want to lug it up and down and up and down. Has anyone bought a dyson and not been thrilled at first? Sell me a vac for my needs. PLEASE “/

<p>Edit*** after a few more days I have to say the Dyson is not terrible. It is very convenient for me, and if I had a small apartment I think it would suffice. But it’s not a total cleaning machine for the house. I’m returning and getting a Miele canister. Thank you ALL.</p>

Dyson Buyers Remorse?

 It has never needed any repair of any kind to date - no belts or brushes, no problem whatsoever. The bags are not messy, hold a great deal, and are easy to change and deal with . You can use Hepa or standard filters, and it also has an additional filter that comes with the bags. It does not "smell" or put dust in the air

 It is now 9 years old and I see no reason that it will not last for 20 years, and give excellent service for all of them. Highly recommended.  Update: Now 17yrs old and still runs like new. Bought a new brush roller for it 8 months ago

 She is much happier with the Lindhaus, notes that it "just cleans better", and has not had to do any work on hers either (she had to replace the belts on her Oreck regularly). The Lindhaus weighs about 5lbs more than her Oreck, the only disadvantage.  These vacuums cost more than the average vacuum, but less than the high-end types. It was more than I had originally imagined I would spend on a vacuum (x2), but I am happy I took the plunge

 It was very well thought out and designed - down to the very long and well made power cord. It still looks like the day we bought it.  Lindhaus vacuums are often used by hospitals and other institutions, and are well regared on the allergy boards.  I recommended Lindhaus to my sister, who was not happy with her Oreck

I have both carpet and hardwood in my home, it's a two-story home.  I'm on the shorter side, so something that is manageable to get around the house and on the lighter side is preferred. No More Bagless Vacuum

 Back in 2002 it was sold primarily to hospitals where they needed that extraordinary cleaning as well as the HEPA filter. They didn’t even advertise it. It was made for heavy duty industry (so no wonder it works so well in my home). I just now came to Amazon to order bags and was surprised to see that it is now sold on Amazon

 And it’s 100% worth it. Mine is over 18 years old and still going strong, but I’ll tell you this, if it ever conks out on me, I will immediately order another Lindhaus.

The only limits I really have is space. Which is why I'm not out getting a shop vac. 

I want it to suction so hard it rivals a black hole. 

Don't care if it's stick, wand less, cordless, battery powered.

Recmendation for Suction power &gt; anything else.

We had this vacuum cleaner for a little over six years, had to replace many parts on it and in the process found that it suffers from a number of engineering and design flaws that resulted in the mentioned repairs. This is obviously based on personal experience, but anyone considering purchasing this model should make sure they have access to a good parts supplier. Have an 18 year old Eureka Boss bagged with Hepa filter that is still soldiering along. I can see that it probably is near EOL with hose failure most likely to be the event. Bags, filters, rollers and belts are still available.

If I have to replace what are recommendations from this sub.

Flooring to be vacuumed is about 60% low pile carpet and 40% hardwood.

Want upright, corded, bagged, belt driven brush, settings for both carpet and wood and have extension hose with some attachments. Looking on the internet there seem to be few options that are bagged. Bag less and cannister vacs are a no go.

Few choices I can find with the Hoover wind tunnel seeming to check most of the boxes. Anyone with experience on that model. Oreck consumer/commercials look great but carpet and floor only no hose attachment for upholstery.
