 And so when I press watch a movie, it turns on my DVD player, but it also goes into my input menu, presses the down button once and presses OK. This is fine most of the time. However, if I've been watching a different channel on my television, it won't actually end up on the right channel. The other feature worth talking about is that once you're in an activity, you can use gestures to control different things

 The other nice feature I've already mentioned is gestures, although it is a little bit hidden in the settings menu. The other really good thing about the Harmony Hub and the app itself is you can have more than one hub. This means if you've got a couple of rooms for TVs in, you can have one in each of those rooms. So all in all, what is the verdict on the Harmony Hub? The Harmony Hub is a great way of bringing all your remote controls into one app and decluttering your coffee table

 To set up the device you simply download the Harmony app, plug in the Harmony Hub and follow the instructions on screen. When it comes to adding remotes you've got two ways of doing this. You can either put in the make and model number and search for Harmony database, or you can program in individual remote controls yourself. Of course Performer is much easier to do, but you may find yourself having to do the latter if you've got a slightly obscure make of TV

 A couple of things I've found with it in particular is that menus can be a little bit hidden and it can be a little bit slow sometimes. That being said, it does get the job done and when you've got a specific remote section open, that does seem to work quite well. It's also worth saying that because your controls and your activities are stored on the Harmony Hub itself, if you've got someone else in your house, they can just download the Harmony Hub, select your hub on your network and they can have the same activities and controls that you've set up. You don't have to set it up on multiple devices

I have a Harmony Hub but I’ve found it unreliable. It often disappears in the app and when it reconnects it will forget the state of things, and try to open an already open projector screen. It also takes a long time to execute routines so if something goes wrong it’s a long wait until I can correct it.

 HOWEVER, If you are like me and planned to use this with the Amazon Echo, I would wait till native support arrives. In the meantime, look at the Samsung Smart Things workaround for more reliable performance than IFTTT recipes.

 But if you take the 30 min to set everything up right, you shouldn't have many issues in the future •I bought this to use with the Amazon Echo, but I would say the IFTTT recipes needed to make this work only work 50% of the time. They have apparently begun beta testing native support with the echo, so hopefully this problem will be resolved in the coming months, but as of right now..

Just find and press enter. •Last thing to note, and maybe MOST importantly is the use of delays to make sure everything works fluidly and correctly. If you have a device that takes a while to boot up (Like my Vizio soundbar), if you do not add a delay, when the device turns on, the Harmony will have already issued the command to switch to the correct input before your device was fully functional

Your Buying Guide to the Harmony Hub:

 The thing that has always set Harmony Remotes apart from more traditional Universal Remotes was the ease of setup and the remote's ability for tracking and changing your entertainment system's settings and inputs with a single button press. Even with a cheap Universal Remote, you still have to manually hit TV, Power, DVR, Power, until you get everything set up like you need it. Have a Smart TV, Xbox, Playstation, Apple TV, Cable Box, Blu-ray player, Soundbar, and you're either juggling six or more remotes or fumbling with an overworked, dumb Universal Remote. The simplest of Harmony remotes take that all down to a single button press

 At the most basic, you can pick up remotes like the Logitech Harmony 350 and 650 for usually around between $25 and $50. But when you move up to remotes that include a hub like the Harmony Companion and Harmony Elite, the price does take a big jump to $100-$300, but you can sometimes find sales for around $250. But the additional functionality and ease of use are worth the extra cost. The Logitech Harmony Elite comes with a hub that sits in your entertainment center

 For an all-around, it works with pretty much everything you can't go wrong with Logitech Harmony of Companion and Elite. It not only solves the confusion around more complicated home theater setups, but adds some really nice conveniences with your smart phone and your smart home.  Upon adding the Chromecast to the Hub, it asked to set up a new activity which I accepted. I went through setting up the activity and then it asked to "Test Now" or "Test Later". Upon clicking "Test Now", it decided to activate the "Watch Roku" activity instead. I had a similar experience when adding an Apple TV to the Hub where it decided to test the "Watch Chromecast" activity instead and created two different activities again

  Pros: If you can figure out the setup, it generally works well. The activity model works well to ensure everything gets to the right state as well as providing for the ability to turn on/off devices. For some devices it provides a great experience (Roku and generic cable box) equal or better than their own remotes provide. There are devices where it adds very little beyond ensuring everything items like the HDMI switcher and TV on the same page (Chromecast/AppleTV) but I don't think this is necessarily a deal breaker

 Doing any editing activities in the app is painfully slow as it "Connects to Harmony Servers" or spends a minute "Checking Hub Firmware" in case it's changed in the last five minutes. The mobile apps seem to be ok once you've battled through the setup stage, the tablet app puts all of the controls on a single screen which is great.  While all of the devices I've added seem to be supported, I get the feeling that if you have something that isn't supported then you'll be out of luck. Similarly it seems rather dependent on the "Harmony servers" which may mean that this could randomly break in the future

 The Chromecast and Apple TV (4th gen) have no real interactivity which makes the app less useful when using those devices. It can control the cable box effectively, has a "favourites" feature for channels which is very helpful. The activity switcher correctly controls HDMI inputs to switch to the right device as necessary for the activity which is good. The ability to turn everything on and off via the app is quite useful

Works as expected after completing the world's worst setup experience

 It's a very simple process, just tap the top of your Hue bridge, there's a button on the top, and it will pair the device with your Logitech hub. Now from there we're going to start adding our devices here. So what you need for each device is you need a manufacturer name and a model number. So you'll just have to look at each of your devices and go grab those

 So your difference in price there from just the Harmony home hub is about $100 for the Harmony home hub and then $130 for the home companion set where you get the remote as well. Now on an Android or an iPhone device, you're going to need the Harmony application, and you have to be a little bit careful here. There's a number of third-party applications that are out there today that appear to be related to the Harmony hub, and they may be, but ultimately you just want the Harmony application. So on Android or iPhone, go ahead download that application, head into it, and we're going to set up a new hub here

 So all I had to do was hit watch Netflix, and this instantly brought up Netflix for me. Okay, well I hope you've got that all set up here. Your Harmony Hub should be working. Hopefully your remote's working as well, and you can use your phone or your tablet to control your whole entertainment system in your house

Logitech Harmony Hub - Review and Setup with Android and iOS

Hi, I just received a Logitech Harmony Hub. It looks useful for getting rid of my IR remotes, but it doesn't fulfill my requirements for an iot device.

 I do like that there's a test part of the app that allows you to notify the Hub that something went wrong when you set it up. Using the iPhone as a remote seems senseless since I have to scroll through the pages to get to the various parts of the remote when I could just pick it up off the coffee table and do it at at glance. I like, though, that I can use the app to schedule an activity.  The Alexa integration is also subpar, although that's probably the app's fault as much as Logitech's

 If you're going to market this as a smart home device, it should be able to control everything in a seamless manner. The Logitech Harmony Home Hub does not.

 While the iPhone app allows you to set up multiple hubs, you have to manually switch between them. I have to open my iPhone app, select the hub I want, wait for it to connect, and then use those devices through my phone. Because Alexa will connect to only one hub -- it won't connect to two or switch between them -- I cannot use voice control on the second hub. Switching between two hubs is time-consuming on the Alexa app and is not worth it

 If you're going to announce that you are compatible, though, you should be. For example, although Alexa can change the channel of my TV (if she "hears" correctly), I cannot control the volume unless I use the Harmony app on my phone. If I make even the smallest change in my Hub settings, I have to disable the Harmony skill and go through all the steps to connect the two because the settings are not automatically transmitted.  I don't usually give three stars for what a device doesn't do, but there's a lot of unrealized potential here

 Now, it comes with the Harmony app, which you just download, and as you can see, I've already programmed every device I have from my TV. It gives me everything I could want from the touchscreen. It also, however, allows me to do what Harmony is best known for, and that is activities. So I can press one button right here and it does everything
