 Hey I'm JR, and today we are here to talk about two Marantz home theater receivers, the SR5014 and the SR6014. Now first off, they're Marantz, so we know that they're built well, they're built to last, the amplifiers are heavy duty and musically very warm, so they have that Marantz sound that we've come to know and love over the years. The SR5014 is a seven channel amplifier with 100 watts per channel. The 6014 adds two more channels and 10 more watts per channel, so it's nine channels at 110 watts

 They of course do have a phono input for a moving magnet cartridge on a turntable. There are plenty of digital and analog audio inputs, so you can get your music in using optical or coax digital or analog RCA connections. Of course you can Bluetooth your music in from your phone, but I think a lot of people are going to use the built-in HEOS. HEOS is Marantz's multi-room wireless music system, and it's built into these receivers so that you can use an app on your phone to control whatever music you want to listen to, whether it's from a computer on your home network or any of the streaming sites, Spotify, Pandora, etc

I couldn't put the surrounds where they were actually supposed to go (open floor plan) so I fudged it a bit putting them behind and as wide as I could. It's not perfect but works well when sitting in the middle of the couch.

My Finished (for now) 5.1ish Living Room Setup

 The sound is much cleaner and the stereo imaging is also much better but I had a little higher expectation. I have a Krell system in car and it still has a cleaner sound. The set-up was very easy except for the cardboard tripod that comes with the receiver so I used my camera tripod instead.  The one big issue is the software that controls the device

 Of those seven amplified channels, they average about 100 watts per channel but are capable of dynamic burst up to 180 watts. And when driving all seven, Marantz guarantees a 70% guarantee. I like bass. Looking for a subwoofer that can provide clean, precise bass when it needs to but also bombastic, mind blowing bass when it needs to. I have a marantz sr5014 powering 2 klipsch rp-280fa that I am pairing it with in a mid sized room. My price range maxes at around 750$, but ideally I only want to spend around $500

Help With Upgrade to Separates... Maybe

I am looking for a pretty big overhaul of my current setup. I have some money to spend but I want to make some smart decisions. I have been in the HiFi world for some time but have always struggled with separates and seeing how they all tie in together and never had the money to jump in. I think I have a good understanding of it but want some help before making any purchases. Below I have listed out my current setup. Below that I will list out what I am thinking of purchasing. I just need help filling in the blanks.   
   
 

**Current Setup**   
 Audio Technica - AT-LP120 USB with a AT120E Cartridge (not using the internal preamp). Bose 301 bookshelf speakers ( I love these but my wife thinks they are ugly and wants them gone)   
 Technics SB-T100 Floor Speakers (really these are there for extra bass)   
 Pioneer VSX-405 receiver (only the turntable and a Chromecast audio are hooked up)

**Possible New Items**   
 Keep same Turntable but upgrade to an Ortofon 2M Red and remove internal preamp   
 Elac b6.2 debut 2.0 with Elac Sub 1010   
 Schiit Mani Phono Preamp   
 Schiit Modi DAC for Chomecast Audio connected with Optical 

 This is where I need help with a power amp that can run the speaker setup I want. You can also tell me I am wrong and should just get the Denon PMA-600NE and not the Schiit items and be done with it. My worry is I will be in the same boat I am in now if I want to upgrade any thing again.

I was looking at Klipsch's The Fives for $800/pair, and then I saw Klipsch's R-51PM for $500/pair. They're both internally powered and ready to plug and play. 

There are differences in the materials. The Fives have a titanium LTS vented 1 inch tweeter and a 4.5 inch "high excursion fiber composite cone woofer"

the R-51PM have 1”  Aluminum diaphragm compression driver and 5.25”  copper spun magnetically shielded IMG woofer.

They're both plug n play but Klipsch seems to be marketing The Fives like they're some new thing that can connect to different devices so easily, but the R-51PM does the same thing for less money. 

Is there any reason to go with The Fives over any other simple solution powered speaker that's ready to plug into the TV?

<p>the R-51PM have 1”  Aluminum diaphragm compression driver and 5.25”  copper spun magnetically shielded IMG woofer.</p>

<p>They&#39;re both plug n play but Klipsch seems to be marketing The Fives like they&#39;re some new thing that can connect to different devices so easily, but the R-51PM does the same thing for less money. </p>

<p>Is there any reason to go with The Fives over any other simple solution powered speaker that&#39;s ready to plug into the TV?</p>

Powered Bookshelf Speakers 

I have been combing thru this sub along with r/hometheater and holy crap their are way too many options. I want to spend about $350 on them, please for the love of all that is holy help me find a decent pair. Cheers

I've recently moved to a new place where the walls are no longer paper thin, and it's time to buy some actual speakers! I've sold (most of) my headphones and scrambled together a budget of at most 1500 with which I'd like to equip the living room. The purpose is mainly listening to music, with home theater in second place.

Now, as many of you will have struggled with at some point in time as well, I'm not the only one deciding what the living room looks like. This means I'll probably have to limit myself to bookshelf speakers (although a subwoofer can always incorporated somewhere I imagine). 

So I'm looking to get started with a nice 2.0 or 2.1 system. I prefer looking through for sale adds to see if I can find a good deal rather than buying new. But there's so many choices! What would you say are some great pieces to be on the lookout for? I also don't own anything like an amp or a receiver (I only own headphone gear) so I suppose I should add those to my list as well... Oh, and the room is fairly big, effectively. It's about 12 by 12 feet, but attached to the kitchen which has similar proportions. And half of the walls are windows. So it probably won't be the easiest space to equip, but I'll settle for a non-perfect sound. I'll just do the best I can on my budget and constraints (without wasting it).

I've only started looking today, so I'll try to refine my research and come up with lists of my own. But I was wondering if something immediately came to mind.

Hey all, I want to add some music to an echoey retail space that's about 500 sqft with kinda high ceilings.  I've got a really strict budget and limited tech know how but I've tested a friend's speaker to get an idea, and it was a Bose S1 Pro and it sounded decent enough in most of the space.  Would a Yamaha DBR10 be sufficient/comparable for my purposes (did some research, it seems well reviewed and within my really, really limited budget)?  I'd bolt it in just above the showroom floor and run a power line and aux line a a few meters away to connect it to the sound source (probably a computer or phone) and power outlet.

I’m looking for bluetooth stereo speakers for my pc and vinyl player, I love the clear sound of kef lsx but it’s way over my budget and also too big for my desk, so Can anyone suggest a pair that is smaller and has similar sound? (Something under 650$ would be nice)

r/audiophile Shopping and Setup Help Desk (2020-06-13)

 It sounds really stupid but I hear that Denon has the same problem. And Gene from audioholics has been protesting this problem, so I hope at some point they make a compromise. But, with a 4 volt output on the preouts, the SR5014 has some serious pop. My previous AV receiver was a the Onkyo RC260

 The app is not all that impressive. Difficult to connect to the Marantz AV receiver, the application is somewhat plain looking and is a little clunky. But that's about it when it comes to negativity about this receiver. Outside of that, this av receiver is probably the best 7

 Okay up mix is a thing... but how much accuracy is in that processing? Okay, this is a review, so I'll get back on track

Marantz is the best...

 It's very easy to do, you just follow the on-screen instructions. Comes with batteries and a nice remote. Doesn't look like anything's changed on the remote. Let me show you

 I really like it. Nice and sleek, not a ton of buttons. It's not cool when you have a closet and you need to make some changes real quick, but that's what we have universal remotes for. Pretty basic interface here on the front

 Alright, as you can see here, we have the Bluetooth Wi-Fi antennas right here. We've got IR flashers, RS-232, got your DC out, AMFM, got analog as well as optical and coax digital inputs. You have network, you want to hardwire that in for your Denon HEOS for multi-room streaming, which is really great if you're going to be getting into multi-room audio. This can be assigned as a main zone, like just one zone or a 5
