Along with all virtual and up-mixing tech, IMAX enhanced, Odyssey system, high-resolution audio support, HEOS and AirPlay 2, voice and custom integration support along with many more lesser features including, bi-amp, Roon support, USB and Bluetooth streaming and up-scaling capabilities there is hardly anything you will be missing

 Under these, from left to right, we get the usual headphones jack, the setup microphone port, a front USB for connecting external storage and to the right side a composite video input along with a single analog stereo audio input. What is missing? If you have paid attention to any of our 2020 releases reviews then you have guessed it right. There is no front HDMI port this year as the arrival of HDMI 2.1 seems to be the reason behind this

SR6015 is not a good receiver choice. Both the SR6014 and SR7015 performed worse in objective testing than their Denon counterparts, the X3600H and X4700H. So I would absolutely be going with the X3700H. I am skeptical of spending over $1000 on a control scheme and "power management"

Ok, maybe I would rather hear "This looks decent, go for it". But I am OK with getting roasted too. Cheesy headlines aside, I am looking to move forward here so if there's no major issues that would make me happy.

Quick and dirty details about the design/overall setup:

* Room is 17' x 17', and 10' high.
* Speaker configuration is 5.2.2.
* PB2000 Pro is initially what I requested, but went with PB1000 Pro to save on cost. Google shows that spec-wise they aren't worth about double the cost. I'm not an audiophile.
* I asked for some sound panels / deflectors to reduce echo in the room, those should be in there.
* The projector I specifically requested (NX5) and I am pretty settled on that.
* The only thing as far as audio goes that I told the sales rep was: I don't want Klipsch. I'm new to this whole thing but I at least have that in mind.
* In-wall speakers are preferred because... kids.
* Rear speakers will be in ceiling (not in the back wall, which is complicated because there's a counter and cabinets towards the back wall that will make it difficult to mount them there. I was initially concerned about this but I'm told the sound difference isn't that big.

Questions:

* Should I ask for 5.2.4 instead? Avoiding 7.2.4 to save on cost. But I know going from 9 -&gt; 11 channels means a more expensive AVR, but by how much? And is it worth the cost to have 2 more Atmos speakers? My budget was around 17k and I already went over a bit.
* Rep said Kef is a pretty good brand. Googling seems to back that up. I know opinions vary widely here so I'm just looking for practical advice.
* Anything else I should ask for in my quote? Anything missing? Anything unnecessary? Anything shitty? Roast it. I'm pretty open about changes as long as we're being practical.

Roast my $18k theater quote!

 - Once the speakers are properly set up, superior sound - exactly as you would expect for a mid-level AVR - So many inputs, support for HDMI 8K and/or dual 4K outputs, eArc, etc. - Wireless networking is easy to set up and very responsive, even buried as it is in my AV cabinet.  Room for growth: - Suffers from the 4K HDMI chipset bug, meaning you may get a blank screen from some input devices @ 120hz. Marantz "says" they are working on a fix and to register your device

 An annoyance. - Bluetooth settings just cause the AVR menu to close, so not sure how to even test these. - The Apps: (HEOS / Marantz) Pretty much junk and won't be using them.

 NOTE: Heavy and tall. Make sure it fits and the shelf can support it. - Once the speakers are properly set up, superior sound - exactly as you would expect for a mid-level AVR - So many inputs, support for HDMI 8K and/or dual 4K outputs, eArc, etc. - Wireless networking is easy to set up and very responsive, even buried as it is in my AV cabinet

I can honestly say after three returns of different AVR’s this one finally met all my expectations. The sound quality is amazing the features and benefits are well worth the price.  I just got a pair of the Prime Elevation for the front and want a second pair now for the rear. Some of what I’m experiencing sound-wise is due to the SR6015 being a much better AVR than the NR1605 I was using.

Actually happier with them than when I was using the Q800ds and Q100s. I’m new to Atmos and don’t have the desire to install in-ceiling speakers. I just got a pair of the Prime Elevation for the front and want a second pair now for the rear. So I'm looking at adding Dolby Atmos to my home theater and was wondering what would be a good match for my pre-existing setup.  I currently have a Denon AVR-S10BT which will need replacing to bring in Atmos, my other requirements are that I'd like Google Home Integration, 4k is a must, banana plug connectors, a decent phono amp, renamable inputs and I'm thinking I'm thinking of 2 (4 if they're not too expensive) vertical channels.  I can't make any structural changes to the room because it's a rental but I do have a shelf that runs around the edges of the room that will hold the speakers at about 8' high.

For budget I'd like to keep it under $2.5k for the receiver and 2-4 vertical speakers, but that's flexible if there's something that is really compelling.  Currently for the receiver I'm considering the Marantz SR7013 ($1600 at Crutchfield) and was considering the NAD T 778 but it's double the price and I've heard questionable things about their reliability.  As far as the vertical speakers I have no idea what would be appropriate for my setup.

I'm also interested in what people use as far as universal remotes.

My Marantz Sr 6015 keeps getting a loud static sound,then I have to turn. Off

 Its predecessor, the SR6014, measured noticeably worse then the X3600H. This is an ongoing trend, Marantz takes a good Denon design and fucks it up.

I will go and list questions that came up after I left and hopefully some of them can be answered here.

* I went from wanting KEF Q750 to Q950 to R3 for fronts. Now that I saw the R5 tower, I kinda want that. The issue with it is that it is $3,300 for both. Quite a lot considering the other options. I do like how KEF sounds so I am not sure what to do. Not a fan of how the Q towers look, and I think R3 will look too small in the living room, but on the other hand I feel like there should be a really good alternative for that price, even outside of KEF.
* Initially was happy with Denon X3700H, I realized that I the X4700H looks significantly better, and it will be sitting under the TV so I would rather pick one that I don't mind seeing daily. Then saw the Marantz 6015 is the same price as the 4700H and I think I prefer that over the Denon. Is there anything better in the $2,000 range that I missed, or is the SR6015 a good unit for a typical 5.2.4 system?
* Why Magnolia hates HSU? Or not even hate, but don't know of, nor carry. I spoke to a few people now and before, and no one heard of HSU before. I am aware their subs are good and I will actually get a dual from their site, I am just curious why no one knows who they are. Or at least claim to not know.
* Did anyone use their installation service by any chance? Apparently they will install the whole system, wire everything hidden, etc. etc.. I am terrible at these things and was planning on paying an electrician to do it to begin with, but maybe paying them could lead to better results? With that being said, they are super expensive - $2,500 for the work. An electrician would probably do something similar for roughly $1,000? Not sure. Need to talk to one.
* Speaking of an electrician, did anyone have experience with one for installing a home theater system? How did it go? Anything specific I should ask him (besides the obvious)?

<li>I went from wanting KEF Q750 to Q950 to R3 for fronts. Now that I saw the R5 tower, I kinda want that. The issue with it is that it is $3,300 for both. Quite a lot considering the other options. I do like how KEF sounds so I am not sure what to do. Not a fan of how the Q towers look, and I think R3 will look too small in the living room, but on the other hand I feel like there should be a really good alternative for that price, even outside of KEF.</li>
<li>Initially was happy with Denon X3700H, I realized that I the X4700H looks significantly better, and it will be sitting under the TV so I would rather pick one that I don&#39;t mind seeing daily. Then saw the Marantz 6015 is the same price as the 4700H and I think I prefer that over the Denon.
