The Marin Rift Zone 29 2 is a versatile shorter travel trail bike with a well-rounded performance. With 125mm of rear-wheel travel paired with a 130mm fork and an up-to-date modern geometry, this bike rips harder than you'd expect on the descents. It's stable at speed and capable of tackling some aggressive terrain, yet it remains easily maneuverable and playful when you want it to be. The suspension platform is relatively calm, and the Rift Zone 29 is a comfortable and relatively efficient climber given its slightly heavier weight. It also comes equipped with nice wide handlebars, a dropper post, and beefy tires to match its downhill capabilities. We feel this is a great do-it-all trail bike option for the rider on a budget, or those just getting into the sport and looking to progress their skills. 
The Marin Rift Zone 29 2 isn't without fault. At over 34 lbs, it's one of the heaviest bikes in this review and that weight is somewhat noticeable, especially when climbing. While most aspects of its build are dialed, the important job of slowing and stopping this bike is left to a set of 2-piston Shimano MT200 brakes. While these brakes work, they feel a tad underpowered considering how hard you can ride this bike, and the long levers take a little getting used to. Beyond that, we were impressed by this affordable and versatile trail bike.

Instantly bought new lighter and faster rolling tyres, 2.6 on the front and 2.35 on the back, (tubeless). 

TYRES are the big dissapointment, sooooo heavy, great traction even on the flat, which means you have to drive the thing along.

Marin Rift Zone 2

Coming from a Merida Hardtail this is obviously a huge upgrade for me but having test ridden the Specialized Epic and Stumpjumer demo fleet prior to purchasing this, I can't see where the extra $5000 is. The Rift Zone 2 rides beautifully on all types of trails. I even got my first KOM the other night. I thought I would be disappointed with the lack of lockout on the rear suspension but it's stiff enough not to bother me on my 30min ride to work

I purchased the Marin 2022 RZ 29 2 after a long time of deliberating over my options. I honestly think that for a bike at this price point, it should be at the top of your list. Bicycles Online did the hard work putting most of the bike together before packing, boxing and sending to me, I finished it off once it arrived with front wheel, bars and dropper post. Apart from tightening a loose screw on the brake caliper, I was ready roll within 45 mins of the boxed bike arriving at my home

 A few adjustments on the shocks and cockpit to dial this bad boy in, and I love it, it looks fantastic and it rides superb, thank you Marin and Bicycles Online :)

Riftzone 2 to Darwin review one...

2020 Marin Rift 

 Riden over 100kms now on different terrain and noticed the bikes ability to tear through anything. the only thing I’m planning to upgrade the tyres and go tubeless. And maybe the brakes at some stage.
