Are there any good wireless audiophile-ish headsets?

If the Marshall Mode II buds were priced at $130 or $100, I think I’d come away with a more positive overall take on them. But at $180, they lack any real standout tricks that would make me reach for them over established competitors. The case is sleek, totally pocketable, and includes wireless charging. Sound quality is good, but not to the point where Marshall thrashes competitors in the same price bracket

These certainly look the part of Marshall earbuds. The case has the same textured, leather-like finish as the Monitor II headphones with the Marshall logo proudly embossed on the top and a USB-C port on the left side. Open it up and you’ll find the earbuds, three LEDs to indicate charging status for the case and each bud, and a round, gold button inside the case for pairing. Marshall claims the case has enough juice to give the earbuds four full recharges

The Mode II earbuds don’t include any kind of active noise cancellation, but Marshall still added a transparency mode in case you need to more clearly hear what’s happening around you. The best I can say about this feature is that it’s serviceable, but ambient sound comes through far more muffled than the airy, natural transparency modes of other earbuds. Voice call performance is average: people I spoke to could hear me just fine but noted that my voice sounded a bit hollow and trebly — something that was also true when I listened back to voice memo samples. 

 The Mode II earbuds do a good job of keeping everything — guitars, horns, keys, vocals, drums — distinct in the mix. Upper-end frequencies can sound a little boosted on some tracks depending on how they were produced, but it’s nothing piercing. And the Marshall app gives you full EQ control if you’re not happy with the default “Marshall sound” tuning. AAC and SBC codecs are supported

The Marshall signature style and good sound don’t quite justify the cost

Which wireless headphones should i get

Unfortunately, the EQ was a bit glitchy in testing. The fader slides don&rsquo;t seem to correspond in real-time with sonic changes. We also noticed some crackly audio artifacts introduced into the audio when we tweaked the EQ dramatically. This is something that can hopefully be remedied in future updates

Bill Callahan&rsquo;s &ldquo;Drover,&rdquo; a track with far less deep bass in the mix, gives us a better sense of the Mode II&rsquo;s general sound signature. The drums on this track can sound overly thunderous on bass-forward in-ears, but they find a sweet spot here&mdash;there&rsquo;s boosting in the lows, for certain, but they sound full and natural. Callahan&rsquo;s baritone vocals receive an ideal blend of low-mid richness and high-mid treble edge, and the acoustic strums and higher-register percussive hits have some bright snap and pop to them.

 We also noticed some crackly audio artifacts introduced into the audio when we tweaked the EQ dramatically. This is something that can hopefully be remedied in future updates.

The mic offers weak intelligibility. Using the Voice Memos app on an iPhone, we had trouble hearing the mic&rsquo;s signal&mdash;the first word recorded would always start out loud, but the rest would be squashed down to a nearly inaudible level. Multiple tests after removing and replacing the earpieces produced the same results. The clarity of the mic isn't an issue&mdash;you can hear that the recording is clear enough&mdash;but the signal is faint

*Sound quality: The Marshall Stockwell II has Fair overall sound quality. Bass has decent impact and goes fairly deep, but is somewhat promient and tubby.

Wanted one for the design and reverby sound it provides. They are great sounding speakers, but the volume doesn't really become apparent till you go past 5-6, till then it is anemic. Still worth IMO, I have the Soundcore Motion+ but if there was another speaker I would like to have, this would be it.

The stockwell 2 has it all. Amazing sound quality, portability and suave aesthetics 😁

Build quality is comparable to Fly Buds 3 . Sound quality is not quite up to what I would consider Marshall standards . I have Jabras , & Tribits , all have better sound quality. For me , Tribit has better sound , and Jabra Elite Active 75T blows them all away

Average quality

 The transparency mode, however, is terrible. I can't hear anything beyond the headphone when transparency is activated and when using them to make calls the person on the other end is constantly saying how loud it is in the background. Even more, I frequently have a hard time getting both earbuds to connects and often have to put them both back in the charging case and essentially reset them to work.  Again, I love Marshall and would certainly consider buying another pair of their over ear headphones, but these wireless earbuds leave a lot to be desired and I will be moving on without a second thought

 Now the right earbud is suddenly much quieter than the left and the battery life is much shorter.  If these worked without issue, I'd probably give them 4/5 stars. The sound quality is probably better than average and the low profile is fantastic and comfortable. The noise cancellation is sub par, but they don't necessarily advertise them to be noise cancelling

Klipsch T5 ii True Wireless OR Sony WF1000XM4

 Usually bass suffers in wireless headphones but this was an exception, I'd say this model is on par with the AirPods gen 2 in the sound category. Really liked the in ear fit - snug and comfortable. This unfortunately is where the issues arose, the headphones infrequently crackled, specifically in the right ear. Trying to connect with my MacBook Air, there were serious latency issues and I couldn't figure out why there was such a serious delay (may have been user error)

 Hearing guitar riffs as they synch up are truly an exciting experience and the integration with my phone was a few button clicks away.  The sound was crisp, punchy and loud. Usually bass suffers in wireless headphones but this was an exception, I'd say this model is on par with the AirPods gen 2 in the sound category. Really liked the in ear fit - snug and comfortable

 Even on my phone there were connection issues regularly and cutting out.  It's a shame because I really wanted to like this product, but it felt like this wasn't a quality product, especially for over $120 dollars. Had these been half the price, it might be a different story and I might have kept them but for full price good luck. Certainly the marketing is great, but it's not enough to make up for the shoddy quality of these ear buds

I saw there was an app you can download and register but I didn't bother, I don't see the point in having to jump through hoops for something that should work right out of the box.  Marshall needs to competitively price their gear if they're hoping to capture a piece of the market instead of relying on their guitar amp history and flashing rock marketing if they want to upheave the EarPod army - and I'm hoping they do but until then, I'd avoid them
