Dumped my Fox Factory X2 for a Marzocchi Bomber CR and couldn’t be happier! The X2 is an amazing shock but was so hard to dial in and just when I get it right, it needs a rebuild. There is so much to be said for simplicity and durability. To me, it’s more desirable than tuneability or peak performance.

Marzocchi bomber CR shock was out of stock in certain sizes (not mine), many shops have limited selection of coil springs. Ordered a Kona Sutra ULTD (steel rigid bike, rival drivetrain) in May through an LBS, it’s supposed to get here before 2022. Maxxis tire selection is limited throughout certain shops, Michelin seems to be in stock, Schwalbe seems to be limited selection too.

Going coil was basically all positives for me, I got a decently-priced marzocchi bomber CR and it’s fantastic, feels more supportive and predictable in corners, doesn’t hurt my jumping at all, literally feels like extra traction for free. I pedal bob a bit more on climbs but whatever, it makes the climb more comfortable and consistent at least. It is heavy, really heavy, but that’s it, all positives otherwise. Make sure your stumpjumper isn’t the one that has issues with coil shocks.
