The Asticus is cheaper but also has worse steel. But also very aesthetic (I mean the cheapest one with wood scales and black blade). I can't really decide.

Civivi Mini Asticus or Mini Sandbar?

The deployment on this is extremely smooth, as to be expected on a blade with bearings. It does seem slightly slow, but I have not had a problem with it locking out every time so far. And I don't expect I would ever need it to be that fast either, so that is not a problem for me.

This is my first Civivi knife, although I have purchased one for someone previously. Anyone who is in the (pocket) knife world will have heard about about these guys, and they are known to be excellent bang for your buck.

So the first thing is that the blade is absolutely razor sharp out of the box. As in it is the sharpest knife I have had, and I have had a good few different knives. From others reviews, it sounds like the sharpening/QC has improved in that department. But it is cutting through printer paper like butter!

Certainly a good knife for the money.

I have a Civivi asticus, it's smooth as silk and feels good in the hand. They are good budget knives and every one I've ever handled has been decent. But like my grandad used to say "different strokes for different folks".

 Blade snaps out when flipped, nice edge grind, sharp, no blade play, feels sturdy, not too large and light in the pocket. A simple, sleek design. I liked it so much I got the jade handle one with Damascus blade too. After I got that one, I switched the scales on the two knives

A perfect EDC?

I have gotten into Civivi/WE Knives lately after collecting fairly high end blades for over a decade now. There was a time when you could not get this kind of quality for less than $300 and Civivi is just killing it with the quality of knives they offer for an amazing price that most anyone could get into collecting their product line. The blade is somewhat thin in stock which makes for a super fast opening and slicey blade. Super happy with it
