 And that's called positive summation, I'm going to go ahead and measure, and we'll just call this back sub, because we know they're all together, we're going to be working on the back sub, let's just call it that. Okay, so this is our before response of just the two together. And then when we turn on that third one, look what happens, we started losing output right around this area right up here. And we haven't really gained any output, which is not what we want

People say it doesn't matter because a lot of folks will use this for subwoofer applications. How can I tame a 30-40 Hz room mode?

Mine blew for some reason and I have to ship it to Hong Kong to get it fixed!

 And while that's true, the thinking around it is that the benefits that DSP in your system can bring greatly outweigh the negatives that not having a perfect DAC. And also if you really were going for like, summit five DAC territory, I wouldn't be looking at a $205 DSP. It was much more enjoyable to listen to. The mid-range, specifically the vocals really popped out of the mix more, which I noticed and I really liked that

 Almost all of them should come with a calibration file, which basically shows you, which basically compensates for the natural frequency response of the microphone and makes it perfectly flat. This is very important. You can't just use any microphone. You must use a measurement microphone

 So to explain to you why you'd need to correct your frequency response, I could take a perfectly flat measuring speaker that's 100% flat from zero to 20,000 hertz in an anechoic chamber and then put it into a room. It would not be anywhere near flat. You'd have dips and peaks and everything based off reflections and room modes and a bunch of other stuff. Now, the Mini DSP will allow you to compensate for those dips and peaks using equal and opposite dips and peaks

MiniDSP 2x4HD Review + Overview

I have a few preamps that have 2 sets out out puts. Recently acquired a four channel amp that I'm going to bi-amp my Vandersteen 2CE Signatures with but I'm curious about ideal sub integration. 

I usually run a set of interconnects out of one set of preamp out to my sub inputs, and the another set of interconnects in the sub outputs to my amplifier. Uses the subs cross over if I understand that correctly. Alleviating the amps pushing the lower frequencies of the speakers. 

My question is can I use one set of preamp out to go straight to my amp and the other set of outputs to go to the sub inputs and terminate there? This, if I understand it correctly would keep the speakers modest low end while the sub would fill in as needed under the sub cross over setting. 

Any thoughts on this same dilemma with regards to vertical bi-amping?

2 Channel with a Sub...

 The unit I acquired came with a defective power supply which led me to believe I had a faulty unit. This was after tech support informed me that a power supply is not included with their product. Tech support is slow and responds between 10pm and 6am.

Unit worked, power supply came defective.

 So seven milliseconds delay on the regular one. So maybe that might not be enough for some people. Right. And so that's just, that's part of the difference

 Delay, there's a, you can use it as a DAC, right? I think you can use optical. So Paul says five versus 10 bands and a maximum of, okay, so I was close. So seven milliseconds delay on the regular one. So maybe that might not be enough for some people

 So I think the two biggest things is you get more, I don't know if it's more parametric EQs, but you get more, oh gosh, what do they call it, resolution. So maybe the amount of adjustment for that. The other big thing though is the amount of delay. So the base one, and I'm going to mess it up, but let's just say the base one only gives you seven seconds, and you guys in the comments, you know this, so let me know what the actual number is

 Do you remember what the differences are between that and the regular 2x4? It's a hundred dollars difference. Yeah, right.
