Mont Blanc Explorer - My go to all around fragrance and used most often in the office. V&R Spicebomb - Love the original and it's what I wear a lot in the fall and winter our on nights out. MM By The Fireplace - Wear this most often around home, super cozy fragrance. Jo Malone Salty Amber - I don't love most "summer" fragrances so this is one that I really like that still has some depth but also is great in warm weather

Buying the Explorer EdP to smell like Aventus on a budget? You'll feel like you just pulled up in a Chrysler 300 next to a Rolls Royce. They're just not the same. This is way more toned down, synthetic smelling and weak. However, in its own right this is a decent scent if you can snag a deal

Decent but no Aventus

Mont Blanc Explorer- In my opinion, better than Aventus and a quarter of the cost. I’m not in love with the Aventus DNA, but it smells pleasing enough and is an easy to wear fragrance.

 However I think it may be the alcohol content… About 10 minutes later it settles down to a very crisp light smell my wife absolutely loves. The residual smell is nothing like Polo whatsoever. That was a huge relief and I'm very happy with this purchase especially as the warmer season is coming I think this will match very well with the warm weather and not be overwhelming

Light Scent

Nobody buys that hot new fragrance for what it smells like in 30 minutes, they buy it on impulse for what it smells like right now!! LOL. I absolutely love the opening of Mont Blanc Explorer, Aventus, Acqua di Gio, Dylan Blue, YSL Y (all of them) and every single one dries down into something different. I've adjusted my buying logic to sample on skin, wait at least a half hour before I decide.

Does anyone share this feeling too?

I find many opening notes of fragrances to be amazing and unique, but those notes don't last for long. 

Some examples that comes to mind are Dylan Blue, ADG Profumo and Sauvage EDP, all have amazing and special opening notes that quickly fade or weaken.

It doesn't mean it makes them bad, but many unique or special attributes are lost or diminished with the top notes dissapearing.

Dylan Blue is especially annoying to me as the opening note is so good and unique but then it just dries down to a generic blue-like scent.

I wish fragrances would retain their opening notes

The smell is really good and strong but not overpowering. After receiving and using the cologne I see that on the Amazon description it says women perfume. So what is this for men or women?

Mont Blanc Explorer is the only cheapie I’ve ever been impressed with. It’s probably my most complimented fragrance and the performance is better than most people say.

I apologize if this is a boring question, but what are the things you wish you knew when you first started getting into perfume? (Other than the explanations covered in the Table of Contents, I mean.) Mostly I'm interested in not offending other people's sensibilities while I try to learn how to wear it and try different scents. No one in my household ever wore it, and I didn't grow up thinking about it or wearing it. I know basically "don't wear too much", "don't try using it as deodorant", and...that's about it. What have your experiences been in scent-free workplaces or any thoughts on them?  What mistakes have you made in the past or noticed other people making that 1) impact the way the perfume should smell or 2) have a negative impact on other people around them? 

I'm mostly wondering about small things that people might not think about unless they've already experienced them first-hand. For example, if you rotate out different scents that might clash with each other, do difficult-to-wash clothing items become inconvenient? Do you worry or ever think about perfume clashing with food that you've just eaten or gum that you're chewing? I don't mean for these questions to come off as over-worried or negative, but I'm curious. 

To make things more positive, I'd also be happy to hear about the first thing that got you interested in perfume, your first positive association/memory of it, etc., if anyone feels like responding with that instead. I figure hearing about instances in which things are "done right" is also good advice anyway.

 If you have had Aventus and want a inexpensive alternative do not expect this to give you the same experience. But this parfum in and of itself is a great scent, would highly recommend to those looking for a daily alternative without breaking the bank.

Smells great and lasts about 5-6 hours. I wouldn't consider this a direct clone of Aventus but it is familiar to Aventus. If you have had Aventus and want a inexpensive alternative do not expect this to give you the same experience. But this parfum in and of itself is a great scent, would highly recommend to those looking for a daily alternative without breaking the bank

DO NOT BUY!!! Been using Mont Blanc Explorer for 4+ years, first time ordered it on Amazon. Sprayed it on and the scent is barely detectable. Guess they bottled alcohol and just about zero fragrance or it sat in a super hot warehouse for years. Amazon says it's non-returnable
